Happy Easter to everyone who is celebrating this feast of new life! My Easter table is set and ready for the lamb dinner that we'll eat tonight. The flowering cherry tree in our back yard is losing its blossoms on this windy day so I gathered some flowers and petals for our table. Our white wisteria is also past its peak but there were still enough blossoms that these few will not be missed. The Easter basket has only two small chocolate rabbits, and that's plenty without any children around to help eat them!
A rather elegant room scene from a place called Longwood Gardens. Basically all I did was point and shoot. It's called the Music Room because that's what it originally was.
The flowers there are exceptional and well displayed. I'm not much of a flower shooter but my daughter (LittleUnit) got some real nice floral images, IMO. Hope she posts them soon.
...and a chocolate cake/ soufle?
...and cheese & ham to go with the bread?
...and marmelade for the second half of the bread?
...indulging and enjoying food in the morning is definetely much healthier than doing so throughout the day...especially with an empty stomach,
...as the more often we eat, the more active our digestive system is, therefore really working effectively and doing what it is supposed to do...
...supply the organism with nutrients & vitamins and burn the calories.
Even those times in my life that waking up so early as 5:30a.m in the morning was required, breakfast was a meal to certainly not miss and tried to enjoy as much as possible...
...back then I found that having the table set since the previous night and having made some preparations was an encouragement to not skip breakfast by saying that there isn't enough time...
Quality of life doesn't only rely into living in the next more beautiful and bigger house, into having the next more fancy and modern car or which other belonging,
but also and rather moslty into celebrating every moment like the treasure that it is....a real present!
...after all, such moments are carried with us wherever we are and go.
Product goods definetely add to our quality of life as well, but nothing can happen unless we cherish life for the simple joys...
There have been sadly so many wealthy but unhappy, unhealthy people, past my life, and so much fewer who can combine both internal and material wealth...I'm reaching slowly to the conclusion that it probably goes from inside out, in order for there to be a meaning and true happiness.
What we have inside will be expressed in our realities...
Did you have a nice breakfast this morning?
-> Yes?...splendid!
-> No?...would you probably like to try it once?
This wonderful vintage set with original pink vinyl seats looks so wonderful on our porch. I set it with some vintage dishes and my (I hate to admit it) faux cake. ; )!!!
Set for Christmas - Day 5
I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, but I think it's OK.
I asked the OH what colour should I do today and he replied ... YELLOW. To which I pulled a face, and he said what's wrong with yellow. And my reply, it's not very Christmasy. And he said, are you doing Christmas themes!!!
I could get upset that he hasn't noticed the baubles and Christmas trees over the previous 4 days, plus it is December ... but it does mean I can keep adding to my tableware collection and he will be blissfully unaware :)))
Of course I do have yellow plates, but I decided these mustard coloured ones were more in keeping with Christmas.
On the menu this evening is homemade carrot and corriander soup, followed by salmon and veg, but I haven't yet decided how I'm cooking them.
I love Christmas, and a Christmas with all the trimmings is just what I enjoy. It is my floral centrepiece that I enjoy most about my table setting every Christmas. This year my florist supplied me with cream, fiery orange and deep red roses. The photos don't do the red or the orange justice. The asparagus fern comes from my garden, as I like to create my own centrepieces.
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day and are enjoying the time between here and New Year's Eve.
This is the second year I have checked these out! We went to the fair on the second day and they had the room locked as they were getting ready for a pageant competition. We were lucky; they let us sneak in to check out these table settings. I posted some of my favorites. I hope you enjoy!
Which one is your favorite? The camping theme won first and the pink bunny theme won second. I especially loved the cloud centerpiece!!!!
Set for Christmas - Day 21
A subdued Christmasy look with sage greens and cream ... and some reindeer.
This evening I'll be cooking chicken breasts in a creamy mustard sauce. Probably no pud, as we've already opened some the Christmas choccy.
Day 10
I wasn't sure what to do today and then decided we'd have a roast turkey dinner this evening, and so I thought I'd do a more traditional colour scheme.
The roast is currently cooking and we'll soon be sitting down to eat. For pud there is a store bought chocolate cheesecake ... I did think about doing a Christmas Puding, but thought that would be a bit heavy after an evening meal.
We decided to try a different Christmas dinner menu this year. So, spaghetti and chicken Parmesan were the winners. Colorful!
