Well, at least this chap didn't have his cell phone glued to his ear. I have been through this on my previous visit to Thailand (though not Chiang Mai) in 2002, so more or less knew what to expect. So here is a local making a piece of ethnic jewellery in a handicraft workshop in Chiang Mai. (Chiang Mai, Thailand, Apr. 2014)

This was shot was taken under controlled environment with table lamps in a home setup.
An inexpensive makeshift set up at home is much suited for people like me and use it when time is scarce and when taking the camera for a walk is not possible. As a result, I can have a photo session, even if I have 30 minutes of time with me. After the first result, I felt still more enthused and started clicking with renewed vigour. This is for the first time in my life, when I have used my camera each day of the whole week and not lamented about being busy with my life and not touching my camera.

This table lamp with a porcelain, litophane lamp shade came through the family business, Roosevelt and Sons, at 94 Maiden Lane . The Roosevelts were purveyors of plate glass, stained glass, and fine glass objects. The middle parlor, or family library, at the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site, was the room where young Theodore could "escape." As a child, Theodore suffered from severe asthma that rendered him home-bound and home-schooled, left to experience adventure mostly through the pages of books.
The Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site, located at 28 East 20th Street, is a recreated three-story brownstone replicating the birthplace and childhood home of the 26th President of the United States. The house that originally stood on the site was built in 1848 and bought by the Roosevelts in 1854. Theodore Roosevelt was born there on October 27, 1858 and lived in the house with his family until 1872, when the neighborhood became more commercial and the family moved uptown to 57th Stret. The original building was demolished in 1916, but upon Roosevelt’s death in 1919, the lot was purchased and the house rebuilt by the Women’s Roosevelt Memorial Association, which merged with the Roosevelt Memorial Association to form the Theodore Roosevelt Association. The replica of the house, designed to look s it was in 1865, as well as the museum situated in the row house next door at #26 was designed by noted female American architect Theodate Pope Riddle. The house was rededicated in 1923, and refurbished with many original pieces. The birthplace was donated to the National Park service in 1963.
The Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site was designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1966.
