Julius von Bismarck

Freedom Tree & Democracy Chair

2013

In his works Julius von Bismarck explores people’s ability to perceive, and he uses the laws of physics to challenge the way we are used to seeing things.

Suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition space, a blue office chair and a simple table each swing in a circular orbit.

At times the movement of table and chair is closely aligned, at other times out of sync. Moving in a rhythm of dance-like accompaniment, the two objects seem to have attained weightless freedom.

Computer-operated motors determine the chair and table’s precise circular paths, which have marginally deferred frequencies.

I have left out the rotary motor, the suspension cables and the corresponding chair to challenge your viewing habits even more ;-) ...

Julius von Bismarck

Lehrstuhl für Freiheitsbaum und Demokratie

2013

Hope you like this build, have a good day.

Loved this backlit photo opportunity and the added bonus of clouds reflected in the glass top of the bistro table.

Have a pleasant day and thanks for dropping by.

Amazing day! They even bubbled. It was one of our more memorable anniversaries.

They must be very thirsty when instead of fighting decided to share the table!

At our photography club meeting this last week we had a photoshoot at a ranch along the South Fork of the Snake River. It was a beautiful evening but we needed weights so we wouldn't be carried away by the mosquitoes! ;-)

In this hdr image the sun has just set beyond Table Rock. This perspective of the River and Table Rock is only available from this private ranch.
