NOT just another Table Mountain photo!

Hey... did anyone else manage to get some shots of the amazing aurora over Table Mountain last night?

No? Me neither! :)

Dan's sister Jennifer planned and executed the entire beautiful affair.

I'm having fun with my new Z6 mirrorless Nikon!

Panoramic shot of Table Rock Lake with the dam in the image. This is our warm weather happy place, with local spring rivers being a very close second. The Ozarks have much to offer. I encourage you all to check out the area and bring your camera!

It is just after sunrise on the porch at Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel overlooking Lake Huron and the Mackinaw Bridge. The porch of the hotel is long, wide, and spacious. I found myself alone on this end of the porch and the tables and chairs were set up just as they appear here. Just by chance, I have caught the sun reflecting directly off the bridge uprights.

The Mackinaw Bridge connects Michigan's upper and lower peninsula in the USA and is five miles long. It divides Lake Michigan from Lake Huron and is the chief navigational tool for boats crawling through the Straights Of Mackinac.

Interestingly, I went to get my wife to show her the sun reflecting off the bridge uprights. When we returned ten minutes later, the uprights were barely visible, the sun having moved on.

Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge - 13/04/2024 --- Upside Down !!

Well , when I saw this week's challenge - Upside Down " - My first thought went to my selfie capture of a lifetime of me upside down , albeit I look as if I am normal way up until you notice the earth is above my head !! The shot is taken from a go-pro of the whole flight in a Spitfire and here I am mid way through a barrel roll . Unfortunately this does not qualify for the Challenge shot as it was taken back in August last year - but I have to share it and it can be seen in the first comment box . Make that the SECOND comment box now - forgot to add it in time !!

So to this week's shot , this is not a contrived shot , the table has been like this pretty much all year now , after the first named storm of the year . With a new table last year we got a cover for it for the winter , however , when the first storm came we woke up to find the table at the top of the garden . Nothing else for it then, we just upturned the table and resting on the cover it has stayed there like this since apart from tipping out the rainwater a few times . After a bit of head scratching to find an upside down shot , this ready made scene suddenly made me realise I had been looking at an upside down shot all the time . However , as of today ( 12/04/2024) the table is back up on it's feet , well legs as would you believe it we have had a sunny and a bit warmer day today !!

Sight and sound was a bit of a head scratcher as well , could not find anything I liked looking for " Upside Down " or for " Turning The Tables " then twigging this is all down to a storm I found " The Storm " ! There is the original version by Rainbow , then an A.I. version using the voice of Ronnie James Dio , but the one I think you would prefer is the Blackmores Night version ----- listen and enjoy !!

21 October 2021, the Sandgate Chamber of Commerce hosts its "Long Table " sumptuous dinner of the Shorncliffe Pier on a balmy evening under a rising moon. Sounds a great thing to do but it isn't for the poor and I have been unable to determine from various web sites that it supports any deserving cause as these things usually do.

Well it looks fun anyway and if you drink too much, you can just expel your expensive meal and alcohol over the rail! Meanwhile, the pier is off limits to the common folk.

I was too lazy last night to put up the hide so took a few from the upstairs window. This is our regular sow, shown in a wider shot to show the context. We're hoping for some cubs in the Wildlife Cafe soon.
