Bat-like Vaux's Swifts (Chaetura vauxi) swarm before roosting in a large chimney in Healdsburg, CA. Roost was estimated to hold up to 8000 birds during peak migration!
Dr. Job Swift and his wife came to Corpus Christi from Kentucky around in the mid 1840s. Swift was a surgeon and a serviceman in the Texas Rangers before his early death in 1850. Marcella J. Swift was a daughter, who died in the 1867 Yellow Fever epidemic. Another daughter, Mary Grace, also died in the same tide of illness.
An article from 1899, posted at the Old Bayview web site, tells about the demolition of the Swift home in Corpus Christi, and recounts that in the Civil War the Swifts hid Confederate neighbors there during Union raids.

An unexpected bonus while sitting by the pond - a rare Swift Parrot landed over head and sat briefly - long enough for me to grab a few shots- nothing brilliant but it was in deep shade against the sky and almost straight up as you can see from the pics

i have been looking at this location for a while to do a photo-shoot but have not had my own car or known any nice cars to go down with so today on the way to see a good friend in the west end i stopped by and took a few snaps
they look promising so swift owners club might take a visit down :P
also if u have a swift in the UK and not a member get joined :) friendly bunch of people on and always up for meeting up etc and to give a helping hand
