Thank you so much everyone for all your thoughtful, wonderful and kind comments. I cannot convey really how much your support means to me - but please believe it is possibly and most probably more than you will ever know…Sue x

A breaking wave from roughly the same area as the previous shot. From the beach between the Hayle Estuary and Godrevy

beach...

This is cropped to capture the middle of the wave before it fell away to either side.

It's horrible weather here but my central heating is up high and in my head I'm paddling in the beautiful blue water with the waves just breaking over my feet......

A surfer at Gwithian beach and once again I didn't have the best lens with me for a shot. Taken using a vintage 85mm Nikkor Ais manual lens.. dohh I'm surprised I got a usable shot. This was taken manually and heavily cropped. I really enjoyed trying to get a shot as there were three surfers who were the best I ever saw at Gwithian. This guy was jumping and turning full circle (forgive my lack of surfing terms ) then landing back on the wave keeping his balance...

Fran and I went to the Manasquan Inlet NJ on Tuesday hoping to shoot the Pacific Loon. We spotted it , but way too far for a pic.So I turn my camera on the ten foot waves that were crashing onto the beach and jetty. This is my first attempt at shooting waves.

In between some decidedly changeable weather this couple of surfers entered the water and I'm pretty certain I recognised at least one if not both later on wind surfing and pretty good at it too...

Taken last night for the Smile on Saturday theme "Flora in Monotone". This resilient little flower still blooms on my balcony, even though it's almost December and it's also getting colder now, with night temperatures approaching 0 °C, and day temperatures not much higher. About two weeks ago, when I actually wanted to photograph a colourful sunset from my balcony, I noticed that the illuminated windows in the house across the street would make a very interesting-looking bokeh background for the yellow flower. Since then I've taken numerous images of this humble little beauty (and her sister), handheld and at higher ISO first (and all of them blurry), then with a tripod crammed in between the balcony table (well, yes, I could move it away) and the balcony parapet, still a fairly shaky affair (and last night it had also been windy); I'd taken the first images with the Lumix LX100, then the next ones with my Oly (with different lenses – this most recent image was taken with the obvious choice, the 60mm macro lens), and I will also still try to get a few nice shots with the Ricoh. When you can't get out to shoot, you've got to find something around your home to fulfill the photoghraphic yearning ;) So you'll see more of this balcony beauty in the future.

Processed in DXO PhotoLab 4, where I've also applied two film simulations from the DXO FilmPack, first the Fuji Reala 100, then the DXO Cross Processed simulation of a Fuji Superior 200 film, because the latter adds a beautiful turquoise-and-hints-of-blue monotone look to any image. I've then further tweaked a few settings in Viveza (Brightness at +7, Contrast at -3) and in Color Efex (preset "Foliage Bump"), and finally, in ON1, added a Glow filter ("Diffuse Glow") and an HDR filter ("Subtle").

Btw could somebody help me with the ID? I'm guessing buttercup, but I'm not quite sure; it's a very sturdy flower with yellow blossoms and lots of herbaceous (you could also call it "weedy") looking green leaves. Thank you :)

HSoS and HSS Everyone, keep smiling, stay safe, and take care!

Entwickelt in DXO PhotoLab 4.

……I thought we’d escape to the coast again this evening - wouldn’t it be great to do just that eh! This particular stretch of coast is on the Lizard - Dollar Cove. So named when a couple of tonnes of Silver Dollars were lost overboard here at Gunwalloe in 1780. Well it’s Friday again, stay cosy & locked down to stay safe and to keep EVERYONE else safe too! A VERY BIG THANK YOU to ALL the key workers who are carrying on to benefit the rest of us - we applaud you all. Alan;-)👏👏👏👏👏

I had no telephoto or other long lens with me so my trusty Macro lens came to the rescue again. Being in essence 105mm in length I managed this shot. The dark line on the actual ocean is caused by a cloud formation and not put there during processing. I sat on a bank above Booby's Bay and got a series of six all hand held so I was quite pleased to get these shots...

Life is all about sunshine and shadows though and I return today with a shot representative of that and for all the silver surfers out there and their offspring who may become the next generation surfers....

Just to help you feel cool ;)

Definitely putting me in the mood for our upcoming holiday. It was always hanging in the balance but a decision made at last re Jonathan’s breathing problems and his consultant gave the go ahead. Of course it means you get a break from me for a few weeks from Thursday - probably just as this hot humid weather breaks but hey ho, this is England and we are used to life giving rain. For those living in Countries where the forest fires are still raging I hope and pray you get the rain that you need…Sue.:)

last of this short series, taken last weekend. surf was not great, but it was big enough to draw a crowd, this fellow being one of many strung along the beach for a mile or so.
