A Sure Start Centre and Child Development Centre under one roof, with combined reception and administrative areas as a joint venture between a PCT and LEA.

The brief called for a building with a 60 year design life of low maintenance to meet the aspirations of two clients with different needs and priorities.

The solution involves a steel and glulam timber structure with a clear span for maximum adaptability and a range of materials selected for their low maintenance and durability.

 

Twintastic was back on today after the Easter Break. Unfortunately the Surestart centre are no longer providing snacks for the children... Fortunately all the mums remembered to bring a little something and the children ended up with a feast of grapes, blueberries, banana, apple and malted milk biscuits! My two downed so much fruit that they didn't eat any lunch!

LFoSS produced a pamphlet entitled ‘Sure Start, What Future?’, containing reflections on the enduring value of Sure Start and how we can keep it alive over the next five years.

 

The launch event for ‘Sure Start, What Future?’ was held on 14 July at Parliament, in the Grimond room at 7pm.

The last Surestart story and singing session before the Summer break had a Teddy Bear's picnic theme. The session ended with the youngsters decorating.
