This picture is from the mutli-sensory room at the Sure Start centre in Corsham. Oliver seemed to like it, I LOVED it!

I can't wait to get along there again!

This room has this bubble tube where the children can change the light by pressing buttons on the mat, it has projectors, UV light tube to rave to, some sound toys, some visual toys and things like a disco ball, fibre optics and lots of other stuff. It is fantastic!

Shankill Sure Start Jolly Jubilee Lunch

There were no ration books to be seen as the Shankill Surestart, Alessi centre hosted a Big Jubilee Lunch on Friday morning attended by nursery age Kings and Queens and their friends and families from across the local area. The whole Shankill area is enjoying a distinct party atmosphere as friends and neighbours join global celebrations for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The staff and children of Shankill SureStart centre had been busy in the weeks running up to the Diamond Jubilee, making crowns and special decorations to help the children learn a little about the Queen and royal history and the centre hosted a fun day giving many of the children attending their very first taste of a Jubilee celebration.

Project manager Irene Cooke said: “by joining the Lottery funded Big Jubilee Lunch we were delighted to receive some jubilee materials and a special message from the Queen wishing us a most enjoyable day.”

The Big Jubilee Lunch is part of the official programme of events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and has Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall as its patron. Led by the Eden Project, and funded by Big Lottery the aim of The Big Jubilee Lunch is to encourage neighbourhoods to come together to share lunch and a few hours of community, friendship and fun. The campaign is sponsored this year by Mastercard, Kingsmill and Asda.

Rosie loves going to Hartbeeps Baby Bells session every week. She gets to play, dress up and listen to nursery rhymes and I get to take photos to use as bribery for when she's older!

In April, we hit the road to see what the banking crisis means for people in the UK and to look at the difference the tax could make. We travel the length of the country visiting everywhere we can from SureStart centres to food banks and homeless charities.
