Recon troopers from 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment joined Latvian and Canadian recon teams for a water infiltration exercise near Adazi Military Base, Latvia, March 30, 2015. The Soldiers practiced ways to infiltrate enemy positions via watercraft and maneuver onto land behind enemy lines to call for fire upon a designated target. The exercise, part of Operation Summer Shield XII, involved multiple joint military assets and an immense strategic planning effort. OSS XII is a 10-day evolving training process during which partner forces from the U.S., Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom work alongside one another in combined arms and live-fire maneuvers.
