As the Namibian sun dips below the horizon, a herd of graceful antelopes gathers beneath the golden sky. The warm hues of twilight cast a mesmerizing glow over the landscape, creating a serene and captivating wildlife moment in the heart of Africa.
Is it just me or does anyone else imagine clouds like these to be mountains? When you don't look at them straight on, they kinda sorta do.
Anyway, this was my intended destination last night for the sunset, the intersection of Woodlawn Road and Perry Road in Lee County. The sun was to set in alignment to the road in the far distance and it did, but it was obscured too much by the cloud cover. I envisioned a big fat red sunset and illumination on the roadway but I'm ok with this shot. Afterall, I just drove over an hour to get here and I think its against some law for me to Not be happy with this shot...LOL. None the less, it was a beautiful drive and a nice relaxing way to end my work day.
My previous post, below, was taken when I was still about 15 minutes away from the above location. The cloud cover was obvious, even at this point, but I kept driving with hopes the clouds would miraculously go away.
They didn't.
So, a do-over is on order approximately March 19..............next year.
I'm patient :-)

Narikala Fortress, one of the oldest and most striking landmarks in Tbilisi, dates back to the 4th century, originally built by the Persians as a defensive stronghold. Perched on a hill, the fortress was later expanded by Arabs and Mongols, and has withstood the test of time. Walking through the ancient ruins, you can sense the centuries of history and the stories embedded in its stones. The view from the top of Narikala is breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista over Tbilisi. From this vantage point, you can see the winding Kura River, the iconic Metekhi Church perched on a cliff, and the towering Sameba Cathedral, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. The old city below, with its charming wooden balconies and narrow streets, adds to the beauty of this historic cityscape.
At the base of the fortress lies the National Botanical Garden of Georgia, a peaceful green oasis where visitors can unwind amidst exotic plant species, serene pathways, and flowing streams. With its waterfalls and lush vegetation, the botanical garden offers a beautiful contrast to the ancient fortress above, providing a tranquil retreat that harmoniously blends nature with the city’s historical landscape.

Perched on a vast hilltop in Chittorgarh, the majestic Chittorgarh Fort stands as one of India’s most powerful symbols of valor and sacrifice. Shot this at the Fox River in Geneva, Illinois, from the Mill Race Inn parking lot. Everytime I am out there, I drive through that lot hoping to catch a good shot. Last night, just before the sun got too low to reflect at all on this water, I believe I caught a good moment...lol. I think the windchill was about 100 below zero at this time, too. Well, not that cold, but sure felt that way. What a wicked winter we are having, eh? Its going to warm up though. it will be near 40F by the end of the week! Break out the volleyballs, beers, and grills....lol.
