I’ve been holding onto these photos for a while. Tonight felt like the right moment to let them see the light by showing the sunset’s own. City lights shimmer against the fading sky, their glow mirrored and refracted, while branches and wires etch a fragile lace across the horizon. It is twilight caught between reflection and silhouette, a quiet filigree of dusk. 🌆

Shot this several days ago when I was leaving the parking lot of my office. Right now, I am in the comfort of my home while being bombarded with a blizzard outdoors. I can barely see to the other side of the commuter parking lot. This is amazing!! The wind is blowing and the snow is sideways. So cool to watch.
The waves on Lake Michigan are going to reach 20 feet at the height of this storm. I would give anything to be able to photograph that, but 1. its dark, 2. its totally not safe out there, 3. I live about 26 miles west of the lake, and 4. Im not not leaving my house and driving anywhere!
The aftermath of this storm will offer up some incredible photos. Work is called off tomorrow so maybe that will be my chance to put on my snow shoes and explore the local area. Cant wait :-)
Thank you Mark (baldwinm16) for suggesting I clone out the jet trail. It was on the very left of the frame. No big deal. But its gone. I like it better, too :-)

This is the Fox River just north of Oswego, Illinois. It was a race against time to find a good vantage point to catch this. I found this little park and pulled over. Didnt even care how I parked the car. Jumped out and captured this. What a beauty of a sunset we had and I am so glad I was right here, at this exact moment to catch this.
If you are working tomorrow, dont work too hard. If you have the day off, enjoy! If you are traveling, be safe and hurry home.
Have a great week everyone :-)

For Fenced Friday! When I was first planning my trip to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison I wasn't sure I would be able to tolerate walking out to all of the overlooks as I am somewhat fearful of heights. But it turned out that my fears were unfounded and I had no issues. I am posting this photo to give others a glimpse of what it is like in case they are somewhat worried. Such a gorgeous view from this spot. I can't wait to return.

1 Kings 8:61
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
Is it just me or does anyone else imagine clouds like these to be mountains? When you don't look at them straight on, they kinda sorta do.
Anyway, this was my intended destination last night for the sunset, the intersection of Woodlawn Road and Perry Road in Lee County. The sun was to set in alignment to the road in the far distance and it did, but it was obscured too much by the cloud cover. I envisioned a big fat red sunset and illumination on the roadway but I'm ok with this shot. Afterall, I just drove over an hour to get here and I think its against some law for me to Not be happy with this shot...LOL. None the less, it was a beautiful drive and a nice relaxing way to end my work day.
My previous post, below, was taken when I was still about 15 minutes away from the above location. The cloud cover was obvious, even at this point, but I kept driving with hopes the clouds would miraculously go away.
They didn't.
So, a do-over is on order approximately March 19..............next year.
I'm patient :-)
