Golden hour view from Park Güell—Gaudí watching over Gaudí. Those impossible spires rising above Barcelona's terracotta rooftops, framed by Mediterranean gardens. Two of his masterpieces in one frame, both still shaping this city's skyline more than a century later. Sometimes the best seat is the one on the hill.

Olmsted Point in Yosemite National Park is one of those "pull over right now" overlooks that delivers a completely different perspective on Yosemite's iconic granite wonders 🌄✨
Perched at about 8,400 feet along Tioga Road (Hwy 120), this high-country vista point offers sweeping panoramic views south into Tenaya Canyon. The star? The backside (northeast face) of Half Dome rising dramatically in the distance—less familiar than the classic Tunnel View angle but equally stunning, especially with its sheer scale against the surrounding domes. To the east, Tenaya Lake sparkles like a turquoise jewel amid the subalpine landscape, flanked by Clouds Rest, Cathedral Peak, and a sea of glaciated granite domes and peaks.
Named after landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (and his son), who helped shape Yosemite's early preservation, the spot features a large parking area with accessible viewing, interpretive signs, and a tactile bronze model of the valley for all visitors. For the best experience, take the short, hilly 0.25-mile (one-way) paved trail out onto the point itself—it's easy but rewarding, passing glacial erratics (huge boulders dropped by ancient ice sheets) and opening up even wider vistas.
Sunset here is legendary: the warm light bathes Half Dome in alpenglow while the high-elevation air adds crisp clarity. It's wheelchair-accessible from the main lot, making it one of Yosemite's most effortless epic views. Tioga Road is seasonal (typically late May to October), so plan accordingly—summer crowds peak midday, but early morning or late afternoon offers softer light and fewer people.
Pro tip: Bring binoculars to spot climbers on Half Dome's cables (when up), and pair it with a stop at nearby Tenaya Lake for a full high-country loop. This overlook captures Yosemite's raw, high Sierra beauty in one breathtaking sweep!

Open up your house that has no views by placing a window view on your wall, and see the vibrant colors of a sunset silhouette.
Adding a window framed image to your wall can create a sense of depth, light, color and openness to a room, especially a room where there are not many ..... or no windows.
Enjoy a sunset scene whilst relaxing in your living room or kitchen. Or, what a relaxing view for your office.
The Fine Art America logo will not show on prints purchased.

I have a number of regrets re these sunset images. We had to leave the Broken Hill Sculpture Park because we wanted to get out to Mundi Mundi Plains near Silverton for the sunset. Unfortunately we left our run too late and on driving away from the sculpture park we realised the sunset would be on us sooner than we had anticipated so we stopped below the Sculpture Park and waited for the sunset which seemed to take forever to evolve. I thought about driving back up to the Sculpture Park, which I should have done, however I was concerned I'd end up with nothing so I hung around down below to get these shots.
I looked for a suitable silhouette but there were no structures, boulders nor trees which may have enhanced the shots.
I also took these shots with my IPhoneX, another bad decision. I had my Canon in the car and should have got it out.
You win some you lose some, such is life.

Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days - I have had a family situation with which to deal.

These geese were coming in for a landing but have you ever wondered about the V formation they make when they are all flying overhead? Here are some intersting facts I found on the web:
When a goose leaves the formation he feels the resistance of the air and the difficulties of flying alone,
then, he quickly comes back to the formation to take advantage of the flock’s power in front of him.
When the leader goose gets tired of flying he goes to the end of the “V” formation. While another goose takes the lead.
The geese flying in a “V” formation quack to encourage the ones in the front.
In that way, they keep the same speed.
As each goose flaps its wings it creates an UPLIFT for the birds that follow. By flying in a 'V' formation the whole flock adds 71 percent extra to the flying range.
When a goose gets sick, is injured or gets tired and he must leave the formation, other geese leave the formation too, and they fly with him to help him out and protect him. They remain with him until he dies or he is able to fly again. They reach their bevy or they just make another “V” formation.
Have a great weekend everyone :-)

We are lucky enough to have a few gorgeous days recently. What a calm and refreshing evening I enjoyed when strolling in Vanier Park! There may not be splendid clouds drifting by, but the quietness of the wind and the peacefulness in the air is something I will always remember of that particular evening! :-)

A charming Mediterranean town nestled between rolling green hills under the soft light of sunset. The view captures the town's historic stone buildings, tiled roofs, and a prominent ancient watchtower rising above the rooftops. The lush green hills in the background provide a serene contrast, while the town's whitewashed buildings reflect the warm glow of the setting sun. This peaceful scene evokes the tranquil beauty and timeless allure of small coastal towns.
I love how the drifting clouds in blue hour added attractions to this undoubtedly beautiful cityscape!! lol...
