While I was on the pier at Clear Lake shooting the sunset one night, this couple asked if I would take their photo. I've always wanted to shoot a really good sunset portrait and this seemed like a perfect night for it.
I moved the camera and tripod up close and had them step over the little fence (shhh) and stand on the rocks at the shore. Kept the camera low and made sure the tree stayed in the shot, but didn't break the horizon. I put the 430 flash on the remote trigger, then placed it on the ground on the left side of them (angled up so the light falls off at their knees). A couple of test shots to get the light power balanced with the sunset... Then I told them to hold really still after the flash because I had to drag the shutter. And smile (because it was too dark for me to see their faces!)...

I got their email address and I just sent it off to them. I'm hoping this photo reminds them of their honeymoon forever....

Sunset
The sky was clear after the rain this afternoon. I wish it some clouds that will make the sky more dramatic for the sunset shot. I stack .3 .6 and .9 Lee ND filter to underexposure the sunlight also use 3 STOP ND filter to blur out the water wave. 30s, F22, ISO100, Time:6:58

A tornado in the Rozel, Kansas sequence. The first was rated EF4. Haven't looked on the followups, but likely weak. A good reason to stay back is the overall view.
Also appears on the Capital Weather Gang.

I am fully aware of there were no clouds. It has my last chance in Alcochete to take a sunset photo and tried to achieve my photo with the composition. Used 0.6 nd grad filter from lee.

With the tide out the sand was still damp and very soft, so with my trusty wellies on I worked an area I had not shot before.
When I went to the University of Oregon from 1978-82, “going bowling” was an activity that involved ten pins and a ball. Nowadays, the Ducks of “UC Eugene” regularly play in bowl games. (A lot of Oregon students come from California, both now and back in the day when I was there.)
I finally made it to Pasadena to see my Ducks play in the Granddaddy Of Them All, the Rose Bowl. Besides the Ducks’ victory over Wisconsin, the best part of the experience was seeing this awe-inspiring sunset.
