Sunset Beach sunset on 11-19-2016

Sunset Beach Hawaii, 4 february 2007. Choppy and windy but still fairly big waves and a few loco surfers! I really need a Teleobjective... this Australian girl let me check out her 300mm on her 400D and I was really drooling over the lens...

EOCT19

Location: Sunset Beach near Milnerton.

Description: I had an hour or so to kill before meeting up with the other organisers of the Expressions of Cape Town photographic exhibition, so I decided to spend it on the beach looking for something interesting to photograph. The weather was stormy and the sun had been scarce all day... but the tide was high and the waves were massive!

I found a nice rocky part of the beach that seemed to be on higher ground and safe from the crashing waves, but every few minutes a really big one would rush up over the rocks and send me scampering up the steep dune behind me.

Although I got my feet wet with this one wave, I did manage to get the photograph I was hoping to capture!!

Equipment: Sony Alpha 100 (11mm ultra-wide)

Designated a quiet beach, Sunset is a less populated jewel of a sandy spit close to the West End and the new Downtown South/Yaletown neighbourhoods. Positioned at the mouth of False Creek where once 13 beehive sawdust burners belied the industrial sawmill operations of the fledgling city, Sunset's waters have been reclaimed for safe swimming.
