Sunset capture at Attenborough Nature Reserve, located between Beeston / Long Eaton on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border.

Sailing Club beach, Darwin, Australia

There were some pretty neat clouds this evening, low ones, in the sky. My daughter and I decided to sneak out just before sunset after we ate dinner and headed down to visit my dad and take some captures of what nature would have in store for us.

This one was captured a few minutes after the sun was down, just as blue hour was beginning. My daughter was out on the pier taking some sunset captures ... I made her part of my framed view of the pretty clouds and lighting. A lovely April evening where I was in shorts and T-shirt :)

Sunset is now obscured from this spot by Turtle Rock Crest. I'm going to have to hike to the West along Ridgeline Trail (my name for the trail, it roughly parallels Ridgeline Drive) to see the Sunset until next Spring. The only problem with that is that some of the landscaping makes an unobstructed 360 impossible. Oh, well. Or I could go all the way to French Hill or even further to Chaparral Peak.

A breathtaking sunset captured from Ristorante La Collina in Monte Compatri, where the last light of day delicately outlines the clouds and silhouettes the trees in the distance. I am hopelessly late with my offering for the first day of spring and it’s not a current capture but on from the archives from a year ago. It just never got posted and so there’s not time like today. Sunset capture taken at El Franco Lee Park. Wishing everyone a wonderful day and a great weekend.

Also want to thank everyone for your kind and generous comment and want everyone to know that they are deeply appreciated.

And no, I didn’t get all of the yardwork completed. It’ll be there tomorrow.

Excellent ambient light can make a huge difference to a photograph.

The 'golden hour' is a term used for the beautiful warm, (natural) glowing light that usually starts an hour after sunrise and an hour during sunset.

Capturing a subject or scene during this period when the sun is low will make your images look so much better compared to shooting in harsh sunlight during the day.

A glorious sunset captured last week in the northern fells of the Lake District, looking from Great Sca Fell towards Over Water. I really liked how the setting sun highlighted the contours of these rolling hills and the golden grasses which make them some of my favourite in the National Park. These hills were the first I explored as a child with my dad so they always feel like home to me. This large slab near the summit of Great Sca Fell stands out as there aren't that many features on the slope of this hill, so it provided some perfect foreground interest looking down the valley which is the source of the River Ellen. It was such a crisp and clear evening, and even Criffel in Scotland can be seen in this picture across the Solway Firth in the distance.

Just woke up after being in Arches National Park until roughly 1:40 am. Lots of fun there in the night on a very clear sky. Fun way to end the 4th of July. May post some one of those later today if time.

Here is a sunset capture taken along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon taken couple days ago. A lovely way to end the day there as well.

Ya, I agree, and then having the thing processed, processed... oh, so processed (like... was a freekin' texture even really needed here?). Guilty on all counts! I plead, hands raised in surrender, failure.

But... the story is on that aeroplane up there (I don't see no aeroplane up there), well, you see the vapour trail, don't you? Well, in front of that is a plane and she was on it.

You see, the incident at the Walmart wasn't quite the end. I never saw her again at the hospital, mainly due to her shifts and the altered circumstances of the final and very sad stage in that macabre melodrama; the sole purpose for me being there all along. For anyone who has followed this story line, you will remember that Diane and I parted in the parking lot of the Walmart on discernible but uncertain terms. Of note, I had mentioned about the God of Fate in our conversation and the little, wicked games he likes to play with me. Well, sure enough, a few weeks later, I had been out to a bar to see a band and who is there having a girly night with her besties?

I will cut the details short: alcohol lowers ones protective shields, lingering curiosities always kill the cat, it is dark outside in the parking lot when one's friends are supposed to be out there and they ain't, very dark...

I knew she was flying out of Buffalo the next day to see her Gran in Hoboken and with the kiss still smoldering in my memory, I sat like a dumbfounded fool watching as the plane streaked across the sky...

He had done it again... damn!

Capture of my daughter's year old German Shepard playing in the snow after sunset. Captured with lower shutter speed but still needing the very high ISO. The results are still pretty good in the low light and high ISO for the action captured.
