On a foggy December morning in 2025, I was there in time to photograph the rising sun between 'my' trees. When one of three mighty oak trees fell victim to a storm a few years ago, I was sad. But now the gap creates a special accent and the remaining two trees form a perfect photo frame.

The house finch is a bird in the finch family Fringillidae. It is native to western North America and has been introduced to the eastern half of the continent and Hawaii. This species and the other "American rosefinches" are placed in the genus Haemorhous. Wikipedia

Ground fog and sunrays shining through the trees, on the Fonteinallee near the Doorwerth Castle this autumn morning, are the ingredients for this fairylike photo!
This is an evergreen shrub but as the temperatures drop it turns bright red as long as it is in a sunny position.
