The sun rays, now unencumbered by the clouds, began to stretch their luminous fingers across the bay as they caressed the calm waters.
Dendrobium Gatton Sunray is an orchid hybrid which was registered in 1919, and was awarded an FCC/RHS, which is the highest award an orchid can receive for quality , in accordance with the set judging rules. Today 99 years later it is still commonly grown because of it's spectacular flowers and it's ability to grow into one of the largest cultured orchids available. Gatton Sunray has two species in it's breeding. The small growing Dendrobium chrysotoxum with it's wonderful golden flowers and the much larger Dendrobium pulchellum ( formerly dalhousianum), with pale pink flowers and dark purple spotted lip, which was used twice. My plant is at it's biggest size ever being 1.5 metres high.
Did you know that the number of sunlight rays visible in the photo can be used to determine the number of aperture blades in the camera?
