People are sunbathing in the park: this is a scene photographed in New York, at Central Park that could be called almost an urban beach in the heart of Manhattan. The green grass is in contrast to the glass and concrete skyscrapers. Instead going from city to metropolis it has become quite usual to see the sun bathers stretched out on the grass, consistent with rules, customs and habits. So also it is at the Lumpini Park in Bangkok though these two people I would look like two white flies because their behavior is an anomaly: they are probably foreigners, maybe tourists, lying quiet, not far from wild lizards, heedless the humid heat that makes sweat well in the shade, while the locals prefer to enjoy the view and the place under leafy palms.

A woman sunbather enjoying the afternoon sun on the Royal Crescent in Bath.

The 18th century Royal Crescent was the work of architect John Wood the Younger, to the design of his father.

Dating from the Georgian period and built between 1767 and 1774, it was the first crescent in Bath – and England – with its giant Ionic columns marking it out as Palladian in style.

The shape of the street is believed to have been inspired by either the Colosseum in Rome or by the New Moon, complimenting the sun-like shape of the King’s Circus, which was built a decade earlier.

As was typical at the time, the architects only designed and oversaw construction of the front of the houses, with the rear built by those who bought the properties and thus lacking the same uniformity.

The crescent was laid out to embrace the open landscape on the slopes below.

This was the best spot for sunbathing (when people weren't chucking water towards it).

A major UK newspaper wanted an animal photo op on the hottest day of the year in London this summer. We put togther this scene of Nicky the Pygmy Hippo having suncream rubbed into her back (perfectly safe, don't worry!)

This was my shot (It was actually better that the pro's they sent from the newspaper!)

(I recently took an office job at London Zoo this summer. This is a snap from my time there.)

I spent some time yesterday afternoon in the pool and Abby sat by the pool sun bathing. She loves to sit in the sun. She does NOT however, like the water. We had a great afternoon!

We saw these sunbathing turtles at the SF Botanical Gardens. There

were so many of them, but I really liked this rock and this group of

them. May you find the sunshine of God's love pouring out towards you

in radiating rays of warmth and feelings of belonging. He truly does

care for you.
