Snails in the full sun. They spend all day there. Why would creatures that could easily dry up do that? There must be an evolutionary advantage.

It always makes me chuckle the way that the blackbirds that visit our garden seem unable to pass any patch of sunlight without instantly flopping over and doing a spot of sunbathing. This bench is a favourite spot, only on this occasion Mrs B was joined by a couple of small tortoiseshell butterflies who must have thought likewise ....
