Sunbathing Farmyard Hen

Life doesn't get any more laid back than having the kitchen door of the holiday cottage open to let the warm morning sun in and a farmyard hen strolls in and settles herself down in the matwell without a care in the world. She was clucking with contentment and I thought she was about to lay an egg at any minute.

Obviously a very friendly hen! I have a feeling this was not her first time nesting in the cottage doorway as she was completely at ease with human company and she loved being warmed up as she nestled into the matwell.

She lay on her side and kept lifting her wing up to catch the rays of the sun.

She did wander around the kitchen pecking inquisitively at the floor (and walked right under the oven!!) looking for scraps.

When she was done, she just wandered off as easily as she wandered in.

Lunch at the 79th Street Boat Basin, Jul 2009 - 04

This woman was stretched out on the concrete siding that runs along the pier at 70th street; the view is looking south, with the Hudson River behind her. I don't know what she was writing, so industriously, but it must have been very serious work...

Note: this photo was published on a Wikimedia Commons page, with the same title as the caption I used on this Flickr page, on Mar 25, 2010. It was also published in a Sep 22, 2010 blog titled "Sunbathing." And it was published in an undated (early Jun 2012) blog titled "Los mejores consejos para prevenir una insolación."

Moving into 2014, the photo was published in a Jul 28, 2014 blog titled "Sun Exposure Could Cut Risk Of These Cancers In Half, Study Says."

There's a cafe by the 79th Street Boat Basin, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan -- nestled into the stone arches of the 79th Street entrance/exit of the West Side Highway. I've walked past it numerous times, during strolls along the river, but I've never had the time or inclination to stop for a snack or a meal. But on this quiet, sunny Fourth of July weekend, it seemed like just the place to go for a relaxing lunch, looking out over the river as people walked by, and boats sailed up and down the Hudson River.

After lunch, I couldn't resist the temptation to stroll down to the pier that extends out into the river at 70th Street, part of the landscaping improvements that Donald Trump made on behalf of NYC when he built a row of luxury apartment buildings along this stretch of the west side. After that, I strolled back up past the Boat Basin to 82nd Street, and then back down to 72nd Street again - before exiting from Riverside Park, and heading off to the gym for some additional exercise.

And, oh, did I mention that I had my camera with me?

This is my brother resting after hours of hiking nearby biggest and deepest lake in Slovakia called Veľké Hincovo pleso. It is hidden in the middle of mountains and it took few hours to get here on foot. but it is beatifull walk though

Day 9 - Self-Centered

I took this photo a couple of summers ago for a photography project I was working on called Her Life in Vignettes.

I thought of this photo right away when I read the Day 9 email and wanted to share it. Don't worry I will take a new one that is in this present moment, but I wanted to show you can have fun while being self-centered. :)

Mama and baby deer showed up today - mama was feeding in the yard and I couldnt figure out what happened to baby - so I went out on the balcony and saw her 75 ft away lying in the snow - I almost screamed - Lots of branches in the way, but I took the shots anyway.

Little Sunshine made Explore !!

This little bird was so glad to be perched in the sun that it wasn't bothered by me in the slightest :) Must be something about Dunnock and sunbathing as this is a regular occurrence for me to capture these

North Yorkshire

One from a few years ago, taken on a warm late summers day in early September, walking along the causeway and noticed this gentlemen enjoying the weather, very few other people around at the moment, so couldn't resist a shot.

Taken with a SMC Takumar 50/1.4.

This rattlesnake was sunbathing in the wrong spot. I almost ran over it. Got out of truck to make sure it was okay. Made several photos and then watched to make sure it made it to the side of the road.
