Shout out to Ski Patrol! First time bringing my Sony out to the mountain, and hopefully not the last!
Looking from snowdon summit over Rhyd-Ddu and llyn y dywarchen towards Aberdesach coastline and down towards Trefor on the north coast of the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, Wales.
This is the peoples cross that sits on top of the Bray Head at its summit. It was erected in 1950 and can be seen for miles and miles.
A bumpy climb up to Summit Lock - the highest point on the Rochdale Canal near the Lancashire/Yorkshire boundary.

Looking north from the summit of Craigshannoch, part of the Benachie range in Aberdeenshire. The hill is only around 480 metres above sea level, but it was more than enough to lift me above the haar, which has been spreading inland from the North Sea after dusk.
This is the west view from near the summit of Buller Pass (2505 M). Directly below a massive amphitheater carved by the glaciers. To the left, Mount Engadine and to the right Mount Buller.
On the glaciered summit crest of the Breithorn (4,164 m, 13,661 ft), preparing for a Matterhorn summit ascent on the nearby Hörnligrat route over the next couple of days. Situated along the Swiss-Italian border in the Pennine Alps, Zermatt, canton of Valais - a spectacular Swiss alpine sanctuary and mountaineer's dream destination. Digital film scan, Summer 1967.
Classic view in the backdrop, left to right: Matterhorn (4,478 m, 14,692 ft), Dent Blanche (4,358 m, 14,298 ft), Ober Gabehorn (4,063 m, 13,330 ft). The Breithorn climb is considered as of the easiest of the 4,000-meter climbs in the Swiss Alps and serves as a useful training climb for the more challenging Matterhorn ascent.

Postscript
Mountaineering and rock climbing seemed relatively pure and simple back in the day, largely devoid of digital smartphones and high-tech gear, permanent bolts, fixed ropes, traffic-jam lineups, and cable-car shortcuts to the legendary climbing routes.
Nowadays the high-altitude Gandegghütte, typically the starting point on the last leg of the Breithorn ascent, can be reached by a brief 30-minute hike from a relatively new gondola station on nearby Klein Matterhorn, cutting the original Breithorn ascent from the valley by a day.
Once a remote refuge for hikers and alpinists, the upgraded mountain hut now caters to mainstream tourism and sightseeing day trips. It boasts modern hotel accommodations with free Wi-Fi and three-course meals featuring "alpine culinary delights ... carefully selected drinks, relaxed tunes" and a spectacular panoramic view over the 4000-meter-high peaks of the Pennine Alps.
Not everyone is happy with this invasive brand of alpine modernism. Traditional purists in the mountaineering community are particularly troubled. Commercial appeals to the digitalized world of mass tourism, packaged alpine jaunts, and aerial-tram shortcuts appear to have compromised much of the old-world charm, mystery, and adventure in an otherwise pristine mountain refuge.

The boys on the summit of Green Mountain, their second of the three Flatiron peaks. Grueling hike (Gregory Canyon, Ranger Trails) due to 90+ degree temps. Lots of shade, fortunately.
Here the boys have scrambled up to a cemented-stone cairn, on top of which is a metal plate that points out the names of peaks on the Continental Divide that make up the western horizon.

One of New York's newest architectural icons, One Vanderbilt is a 93-story supertall skyscraper at 42nd St and Vanderbilt Ave.
Upon opening in April 2021, it was the 4th tallest building in NYC.
The observation deck, SUMMIT, opened in late October 2021. The three floors of mirrored surfaces have made it a a must-visit for Instragramers and aspiring fashion models.
The building offers views of the Chrysler Building, rooftops across midtown, but the star is the Empire State Building to the south.
The Summit Inn
~~~~~
The Summit Inn was built in 1928 at the summit of the Cajon Pass along Route 66 before moving to Oaks Hills, CA in 1952, following the rerouting of Route 66. In 2014, a drunk driver crashed a stolen van into the restaurant, destroying the kitchen, which was subsequently rebuild. Throughout its time, the restaurant served ostrich egg omelettes and buffalo burgers. Numerous celebrities stopped by, such as Elvis Presley, who kicked the jukebox upon discovering it had none of his records at the time. Also visiting have been Pierce Brosnan, Pearl Bailey, Clint Eastwood, and Danny Thomas, none of whom are known to have kicked the jukebox. The Inn was destroyed in the Blue Cut Fire in 2016. The current owners have mentioned rebuilding it, but as of now, there's nothing there.
This is one of the first photos I created with my new camera, a Pentax K-1, which was a joy to use. I've been using Nikons for many years, so finding the controls and everything else was a bit of an adjustment. I photographed up and down Route 66 at night, using Barstow as a home base. During the exposure of this night photo, I illuminated the sign with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device.
A few people were interested to see the B&W. I was going to string it out for a while with some other photos but I decided to play nice. Enjoy.
A relatively easy climb and a week's worth of acclimatisation meant that we could get up at a reasonable hour for this one - 5 AM. It did mean not being at any appreciable altitude for sunrise but the view from the top was fairly spectacular nevertheless, if not fairly bright and dazzling.
From the summit of the Weissmies, looking East-North-East over the adjacent valleys with Italy off in the distance, ultimateley washed out by the glaring sun just out of frame.
Auf der Gipfelwiese vom Gelände steht neben etlichen Fichten und Föhren auch die Geländehütte. Am rechten Bildrand im eingezäunten Bereich der sogenannten Seiser-Ruhe stehen ein Tisch und einige Bänke zum Geniessen einer ausgiebigen Gipfel-Rast mit Panoramablick auf den Schneeberg. Wer dort keinen Platz mehr ergattert, muß sich mit dem nicht viel weniger prächtigen Blick über die Fischauer Vorberge und auf das Becken von Wiener Neustadt "begnügen". ;-)
At the summit meadow of the Gelaende (~ country) is located beside a few spruces and pines also the Gelaendehuette [~ country hut). On the right photo margin in the fenced area of the so called Seiser rest stand a desk and a few benches to enjoy a extensive summit break with a panoramic view to the Schneeberg. Who isn't lucky enough to snatch a place there, must be content with the not much less splendid view across Fischau's foothills and to the basin of Wiener Neustadt. ;-)
- www.kevin-palmer.com - I wished I could have lingered longer on the summit of Greathouse Peak. But storms were forming later that afternoon and I had to get down the mountain so I could chase them.
