an early morning ascent of "The Pinnacles" to wait for sunrise, the clouds were already gathered in wait as well ! The bright light isn't actually the sun- which was behind thick cloud, rather it is the reflection on the sea immediately below
The summit terrain of the low eastern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains harbors a unique ecology of grass and ferns, with well-dispersed hickories and oaks. Spaces to me of an epic charm.
I appreciate your comments! I will reply in visits to your photo streams.
Summit of the Gurnigelpass (1600 meters above sea) on a clear night. The environment is completely lit by the fullmoon. It's a so called 'supermoon', when the distance the the earth is the shortest possible, which makes him (apparently) shine up to 30% brighter.
The peaks in the background (from left) are: Nünenen, Gantrisch, Bürglen and Ochsen.
Mount Erciyes (Turkish: Erciyes Dağı) is a massive stratovolcano located 25 km (16 mi) to the south of Kayseri in Turkey.
Erciyes is the highest mountain in central Anatolia, located within the ancient region of Cappadocia, with its summit reaching 3,916 m (12,848 ft). It is considered to be the highest peak of the Anti-Taurus mountain range, a northeastern extension of the Taurus Mountains to the south, and belongs to the Alpide belt in Eurasia.
The volcano is heavily eroded, but may have erupted as recently as 253 BC, as may be depicted on Roman era coins.
From the laguna Chulluncani, we contemplate an impressive volcanic summit in front of us, the Cerro Caquella (5857 m - 17848 ft).

The wind and cold was wicked and strong but it was such a Fabulous evening on Bow Summit looking down on Peyto Lake that dear friend Sergio and I only noticed it when the high winds almost blew us away. Our grins of joy almost froze on our faces as the sun went down. One of my favorite experiences.
I'll be away for a bit. My father is turning 90 and we'll be spending time with family.
Have a wonderful week!

A pun on 'something abstract', weathered paint and plaster on a wall in South London resembles a mountain peak. I also thought of calling this 'Peaky Blinder'.

The small cairn marking the summit of Conachcraig. It's very cold here so it's definitely time for sandwiches .. and a hot coffee!
Conachcraig is a Corbett standing at 865 meters (2837 feet). A Corbett is a Scottish mountain between 2500 and 3000 feet high, with at least 500 feet of descent on all sides.
An easy hike with big payoffs for views, toughest part was the six miles of forest service road, it's one for the ages. I don't know if you will ever see the pics of the spectacular view from 5800 feet as the haze was so bad, but Bear Head Peak and Mount Rainier are just to my right and 1300 feet down is Cosplay Lake and my truck. I think in a couple weeks it's going to get a lot of orange yellow and red up here, time sure is flying.

When I was reviewing my images on the back of the camera on the evening of our first day in The Lakes, I could have sworn I saw an image where I'd captured two people on the summit of Catstye Cam. However, I had trouble finding it when the images were imported into Lightroom. Pleased to say I finally found the image this morning.
I've uploaded the image in high res so you can click and zoom.

Una verdadera experiencia poder seguir a este tren en su subida desde el nivel del mar hasta los 800m a los que se encuentra esta estación.
2.5 hours after dropping the bikes, and some considerable climbing, here we are at 1157 meters (3796 feet) and the summit of our first mountain of the day Beinn Bhrotain. I couldn't resist getting a little extra height by standing on top of the tri point!!
Beinn Bhrotain (pronounced Bane Vrottan meaning Hill of the Hound) stands at 1157 meters (3796 feet) and is the first of our Munros today. Monadh Mor (pronounced Monnagh Mor meaning The Big Hill) is our second and final destination and stands at 1113 meters (3651 feet). A short 5 mile cycle up Glen Dee gets us to the foot of the climb, then it's an 11 mile hike across rough and boggy ground to get there. An epic 8.5 hours, largely un-pathed, time in the hills gets us back to the cars just before full dark falls!
Snaking through the multiple curves east of Summit, Montana, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe grain train traverses Marias Pass on September 9, 1999. Up front is an eclectic group of motive power led by BNSF warbonnet GE C44-9W No. 781. Trailing the 781 is a former Santa Fe LRCX C30-7, a Burlington Northern C30-7, a Santa Fe EMD SD45-2B, and finally, another Dash 9 in Heritage II paint.
Rio Grande GP40-2 No. 3094 kicks up up a little snow while cresting Soldier Summit on New Year's Eve, 1994.
A friendly crew smokes it up for the last effort to get a short sand train for Emporium over Keating Summit. Lucky for us, the morning fog burned off a little below the summit. June 7, 2019 was a great day on the WNYP. 3 trains which we managed to shoot in about 30 different locations thanks to good intel from the birdie network. All day I kept wondering why I never shot Conrail here.
