On the summit of Mt. Ida looking down on Julian Lake and into south-southwestern distance towards Granby, CO. In the farthest distance, on the right horizon, the Collegiate Peaks are visible (including several of Colorado's 14'ers.)

The Jungfrau summit with the view into the distance. This is one of the highest summits in the Bernese Alps with 4158m. This picture was taken at 3500m. Behind the snow and mountain there is a big drop down to about 2000m.

Probably my last chance for an aurora shot this season. Even after midnight the sky still has a lot of brightness from the sun on the northern horizon, soon it won't get dark at all. But it was a nice display with a full moon.

Isle of Ske - Cuillin Ridge. Isle of Rhum in the sunsetting background.

This is the first of several star trails I took while camped in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Unfortunately work has been getting in the way of my processing/flickring time and posting images has been slow going this week! The Lake (more like a pond) is North summit Lake and was directly behind my campsite.

The foreground was taken right around sunset and I began shooting the exposures for the trails shortly thereafter. This image proved to be a fair degree more difficult to assemble then my other startrails as it required substantial judicious use of masking in photoshop.

35 exposures at 3 minutes each for the trails. ISO 500

The forecast was for a very active aurora tonight, so I went to Cleary Summit (a pass in the White Mountains northeast of Fairbanks.

While the forecast wasn't especially accurate, this is a good place to get a view with the higher altitude and a good view to the northeast.

The 'East West DEMU' tour of 6 April 2025 approaches the summit of Gomshall bank.

Winter sundown behind the jagged peaked spine of Mount Fee (2162 m, 7093 ft), a potentially active stratovolcano in the Pacific coastal mountains of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Last descent before sundown.

Visuals extend across an infinite field of snow-capped mountain peaks and alpine meadows, barren volcanic rock formations, dense mountain forests, steep canyons and river valleys, glacier-fed crater lakes and huge icefields.

The jagged summit of Mount Fee rises from an alpine ridge in a volcanic glacial field that includes the Powder Mountain Icefield and Mount Callaghan (right horizon, northwest) and further southeast off the page to Brandywine Mountain and Mounts Brew and Cayley.

Cairn on the summit of Mt Marcy, highest peak in the New York Adirondacks (elev 5344')

Cairns are used to mark a trail above treeline to assist hikers in the event of bad weather, as was the case March 5th of last year as we pushed for the summit in icy whiteout conditions. The windswept rime ice made for some very beautiful photograghy as long as you could securely set your crampons with a good bite in the ice and keep the camera batteries from freezing!

Standing tall and epic against the blue sky; one of many ragged peaks of the Tantalus mountain range near Squamish, British Columbia. Here seen from the side of the Sea to Sky, Highway 99.

For the life of me I could not twist the lid open to sign the register and I thought it was just me. But when I got home and went through some old trip reports, it looked to have been an issue for everyone. :)
