MAE 640 Motor Test Team completed their first successful test firing of a G138T solid rocket motor. The test firing occurred at 11:30 PM on Friday March 22, 2012. Data on thrust and case strain were obtained. MAE 640 students Dan Jones and Mark Becknell were assisted by PRC staff Tony Hall, Dr. David Lineberry, and Dr. Robert Frederick.
Data from this test will be analyzed and integrated into a 6 DOF simulation of a flight vehicle to be launched next month by the class. Intermediate objectives are to determine the specific impulse, thrust /chamber pressure ratio as a function of time, and the nozzle throat erosion.

From September 15th to 19th the second of the four JCOM Masterclasses, educational programmes aimed at an international audience and held by international experts takes place. For the 20 selected participants this interactive course represents a unique opportunity to discuss the state-of-the-art of science exhibition development with particular focus on the possible different design approaches, helping participants to reflect on the relationship between the different media, contents and visitors' experience.
Negeri Sembilan has successfully beat Kelantan to emerge as champion of Piala Sumbangsih 2012, with the scoreline of 2-1. Kelantan first to score through Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, when he beat Farizal Marlias on 19th minute but was cancelled out by Effa Owana on 30th minute, with a deflection score, beating Khairul Fahmi Che Mat. Effa Owana has made it 2-1 with a neat header, passing the Malaysia no.1 keeper in the 62nd minute.
This is a photograph from the second annual Kilcock Kilomarathon 2013 which was held at Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 6th October at 11:00. This event follows on from the very successful inaugural event last year. The event today also included a 6KM Fun Run and Walk. There was also a specially organised officially recognised marathon which allowed competitors to complete the 6KM course seven times for the marathon distance. The main event was the kilomarathon which is approximately 26.3 kilometers (a little over 16 miles). The race started and ended in Kilcock GAA club and took a left turn route out to Newtown, then Donadea The Range, Tirmoghan, and returning back via the Clane Road Roundabout to Kilcock GAA. There was a slight change to last year's route which brought the race out on the Kilcock AC 5KM Road Race route for 1km. This is a tough challenging course which brings runners up the locally famous 'Newtown Hill' (see Google Street View goo.gl/maps/VbHUo) and across by Donadea Forest. There was stewarts position at every junction point in the race.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 200 participants between the Kilomarathon and the 6KM Race.
Weather: This was a relatively dry day with very light showers at times. The temperatures were a little higher than one would expect for early October with temperatures around 16C. There was a light breeze.
Course: The entire route does not actually bring the race into Kilcock town at all as the race never actually crosses the railway or Royal Canal both which run through the town slighly south-easterly towards Dublin. Leaving Kilcock GAA the race route follows country roads westerly until the course passes Knockanally Golf and Country Club. The direction then turns south until it turns again at Donadea Forest park brings the race back in a north-easterly direction towards Kilock. The course was very well marshalled with marshals at every junction. There was also a very significant Garda presence at major road crossings and junctions.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive array of refreshments provided for participants afterwards in Kilcock GAA. There were showers and changing rooms also provided.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This is a photograph from the second running of the 'Streets of Athboy' 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in the town of Athboy, Co. Meath, Ireland on Friday 7th August 2015 at 20:00. Tonight's event follows on from the very successful innagural running of the event. The race event was organised very successfully again by Mick Priest and his team of volunteers and helpers from the local athletics club Father Murphy AC and the local community. The race started and finished in the town and followed a nice mostly flat route. The very rainy weather of recent days cleared off and the race was held in very good weather conditions for running. Refreshments were provided afterwards in St. James' Hall in the town where the race headquarters and registration took place. Athboy is located west of Navan on the N51 between Navan and Delvin. Athboy is also very close to the Westmeath border which is only a few miles away to the west of the town.

USG successfully hosted the first annual Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) Summer Bridge Program from June 16-19, 2014. ACES seeks to support students and create a seamless pathway from high school to college completion.
This year's theme was "Why Not You" and focused on career preparation and exploration. Students participated in activities that developed leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills essential for success in today's workforce.
Over 250 rising seniors attended the program. Coaching and support will continue for ACES scholars as they pursue their education with Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, and the Universities at Shady Grove.

The Festival d'Avignon was founded by Jean Vilar in 1947.
Jean Vilar was invited to present his first great successful play - Murder in the Cathedral by T.S. Eliot in the Popes Palace. At the same moment and at the same place, an exhibition of contemporary paintings and sculptures was organised by Christian Zervos, an art critic and collector, and by René Char, the poet.
Vilar initially refused the invitation as for him the Cour d'Honneur of the Popes Palace was too vast and "shapeless" and he also lost the performance rights of the play.
However, he proposed three creations : Shakespeare's Richard II, one of the Bard's plays that was little known at the time in France; Paul Claudel's Tobie et Sara (Tobie and Sara), and Maurice Clavel's second play, La Terrasse de Midi (The Midday Terrace). The very first Festival d'Avignon in September 1947 set the scene as a showcase for unknown work and modern scripts.
There are four distinct stages in the evolution of the Festival d'Avignon.

We successfully smuggled rum on board in two different mouth wash bottles. Then I used the soda package to get diet coke for a mixer.
Also, you can see a bit of our state room here. It was pretty small but larger than our hotel room in Yokohama last Fall. The thing that was strangest about it was that we had no window. So you would wake up and have no idea what time it was. This was especially difficult for me, as I tend to need the sun shining to feel awake in the morning. After a few nights I figured out that we could leave one of the room lamps on and pull the curtains around the bed. This didn't help with telling what time it was, but it did at least make it easier to actually get up when our alarm went off.
