Two orchid flowers are opening new universes of beauty in shapes and colors.

And thoughts.

Just got back from Snowdonia and I certainly didn't intend to shoot this tree again, but as we were passing it would have been rude not too! This was the only bit of decent light in a rainy week!

"Nature’s subtle Siren sits alone and waiting,

Ever joyfully singing, her splendor unabating.

But as of late her song seems to be growing soft,

“Does she even still exist?” some will surely scoff.

But willingly we’re shackled to a new sort of mast;

From gliding chairs we glance at her while we hurry past.

This gentle Siren’s single aim is not to shipwreck our fleet

She offers mystic vistas, mossy groves, and sands caressing feet.

Her song is heard the loudest where few travellers dare to come,

She sits bestowing peace on many, giving transcendence to some." ~Nick Parkison

A photo collaboration with with my husband Nick , and a poem by him as well. :)

Processed a good deal of this image in ACR and took into CS4 as a smart object to play with the rest of the way.

The subtle blue is a result of preferential scattering of short-wavelength light as it travels down the vertical shaft and hits the waterfall mist in the moonlight. The Natural Bridge is a naturally formed rock arch over Cave Creek, a tributary of the Nerang River. It was formed from a waterfall which undercut a cave beneath the waterfall and dug a pothole on top, until the two joined and the creek flowed through the cave, leaving an arch across the front. Love Life, Love Photography

As autumn passes we are left with a few bits of subtle color on the landscape.

Discovering that there was more than that.

Recognize this, Kim?

I've been tagged with this newest craze of telling 16 things about myself. I'm supposed to tag 16 other people to do the same. It really smacks of those e-mails that ask you to do such and such and send it on to all of your friends...yaddayaddayadda. I delete them.

But this is kind of cool, so I am doing it.

I am going to choose 16 people, but not until after Christmas. And I am fine if all 16 choose to delete.

Here goes

1. I have a Master's degree in Children's Literature and Creative writing. That's why Demi is so much fun for me.

2. I am the luckiest person I know. As my wonderful, wonderful mother-in-law always says: I'd rather be lucky than smart.

3. Math, statistics, numbers are a mystery to me. I just don't get it.

4. I treasure times with my family.

5. That includes, of course, the Golden Girls, Kismet and Maddie.

6. Laughter is my favorite activity and I love to make other people laugh.

7.I treasure my non-Flickr friends even though only ONE of them (thank you, D) looks at my pics nearly every day.

8. I hold my Flickr friends very dear to my heart. It's a microcosm of all that is good with the world.

9. I love the skunky smell of puppies

10. I love the baby smell of babies.

11. I love birthday cake.

12. I love to photograph patterns and colors, people, nature and wildlife and any humorous scene.

13. I love turning strangers into friends. I believe in people. I believe in their stories.

14. Through photography, I am learning to look up from minutia and see the bigger picture. But I still love minutia.

15. I believe in nature's tangible gifts: a smooth stone, a blue jay's feather, an empty bird's nest.

16. I am not neat or organized and I tend to be impulsive.

So sue me.

BTW, one of the people who tagged me was www.flickr.com/photos/auntsue/3130787972/. Check it out. I was inspired. :)

When wind and sand combine.......

I love how the leftover dots from the last blast looks like stars.

Windy, wind...er... windy

From today's walk. Was a bit of a toss up, between a subtle tone and b&w.

Maybe, but certainly not sharp. At least as pertains to geography- we are far from the 100th meridian where the Great Plains start. We are more properly in the Upper Midwest's Driftless Region here.

As promised, the last snow shot.

A windy desolate landscape with subtle undertones of color and beauty.

I have Man Flu and really didn't want to go far this morning but the early light tempted me down to the beach. I wrapped up very well but cut a pathetic figure, shivering in my Wellies! Tested later, at my family's suggestion, I showed positive for Covid 19.

While many birds command attention with bright plumage or boisterous activity, the Eastern Phoebe is at the other end of the spectrum, with rather pale colors and a very quiet demeanor...lacking a bold statement at all... but they win my heart with their easily approachable presence! They can be great company as they slowly shift around to every low branch in an area and provide some sweet poses in their understated, low key style!
