A view of Mt. Hood from "Screamer Hill", one of the trails that we ski at Teacup Lake. The entire complex is threatened by a possible highway reroute as they try to fix the flooding problems that have plagued highway 35. Needless to say we are against it for very selfish reasons. The other reason is that this area does not seem to flood.
No filters or tripod used for this one. It was taken before the sky cleared out to reveal some blue.
Working on Easter dessert for my boys. These nonpareils made for a great macro black and white shot.

It's not even June, but I'm already running from the blinding pseudo-summer sun. Late afternoons in the deep stream hollows are a good place to hide, scrambling down precarious slopes to reach a space that direct light struggles to find. Brown Brook is a sleepy place, little but a trickle, like a thousand other similar streams across Nova Scotia. It's the subtle search for something to make my own, that's the draw, like the pull of gravity and water. There's a quiet companion in hanging out with the hills, a way to feel smaller than I'm otherwise aware. Nothing ever ends its upheaval here, trees torn from the roots as soon as they've outgrown their stony soil. The terrain holds little long term – stuck in a state of never-changing, ever-changing, always.

As you walk through the second time you start to see a lot more signs of Nabatean activity in this siq. The first time the sheer natural beauty just blows away everything else.

Almost lost in the scattered daylight of an autumn sky, the last quarter moon approaches new. An airliner passes in front, adding an extra dimension to the image.
