Friend: Không ra gì .................

Studying for a differential equations final.

This was a picture from last night, I took as I was studying for a test. I wanted to focus on the amount of pages I had to cover, working on depth of field as well. But the binder ring was what stood out the most..

The interior of the mosque dome. It will all be finished off somehow (plaster and paint I guess?) and look very different when it's done. I think the brick dome itself is quite impressive though!

"Brantwood is a country house in Cumbria, England, overlooking Coniston Water. It has been the home of a number of prominent people, including John Ruskin. The house and grounds are administered by a charitable trust, the house being a museum dedicated to Ruskin.

"In 1871 the house was sold to John Ruskin who it is claimed had never previously seen it. However, Kitchin and Ruskin were friends, having met at Oxford, so it is likely he may have had some prior knowledge of the property. Before Ruskin came to Brantwood in the following year, he arranged for repairs to the house, the addition of a turret, the building of a lodge for his valet and his family and for improvements to the garden.

"For a short time during his stay at Brantwood, Ruskin held tutorial sessions, what would be called today as teaching seminars. These were held three times each week and each day a different subject was covered, namely Art, Literature and Sociology. His evening assistant when he was absent was a Richard Hosken who had been a former student.

"When he was in residence, Ruskin filled the house with art, including paintings by Gainsborough, Turner and the Pre-Raphaelites and a collection of minerals, pottery and sea-shells. Ruskin was joined in the house by Arthur Severn, an artist married to Joan Agnew, his cousin and their growing family. A frequent visitor to the house was William Gershom Collingwood, painter, archaeologist and translator of Nordic sagas who lived nearby. In 1878 a new dining room was built at the south end of the house. A second storey was added around 1890 to provide additional rooms for the Severn family and a studio was built at the rear of the house for the use of Arthur Severn. During this time the estate was also extended."

Studying medicine in Russia is comparatively cheaper than European countries. The average yearly fee for MBBS is around 5000 USD, which differs from one college to another. This comes to INR 3, 15,000 per year, considering the conversion rate of dollar to Indian Rupee is 63 and the amount is likely to differ according to the changes in the exchange rate of the American Dollar. Other expenses include hostel fees which come to around 600 USD per year, translating to about INR 3, 78, 00 per year. A student must also keep a sum of 300 USD, that is, INR 18900, aside every year for purpose such as medical check up, insurance and visa. Apart from this, students must also keep an average amount of 5700 USD or INR 3, 59, 100 aside for yearly expenses on food, utilities, travel and miscellaneous expenses.

There are many study rooms like this scattered throughout the academic building at Amsterdam University College. I chose to include a photograph of one of them in my journal because they have been a really important part of my academic experience. AUC is such a small community with a focus on multidisciplinary liberal arts learning and with this comes the assignment of many group projects and presentations. I am constantly meeting with people in my classes to discuss such topics and these study rooms are very convenient. This particular study room was also the home to the oral midterm exam for my Economic Thought in a Historical Perspective course. At first I was very nervous about an oral exam being worth so much of my grade because I had never taken one before, however, it forced me to learn to study in a different way than I do for many of my Northeastern classes. I have come to appreciate the new style of learning I have had to adapt to here at AUC.

I hate studying.

I also hate the fact that studying reduces the time i can spend on my 365 picture.

Its been a month since i first started (well..30 days.)

The group study rooms will be separated by partitions, not walls, to create easy and informal meeting spaces.
