After watching the geese fly out (and waiting endlessly for the cranes to do the same), we moved on to one of the other ponds. Lots of cranes hanging around there, too. They were leaving in small groups like this one, four or five at a time.
There's almost the full range of flight motion in these five birds - the sort of thing DaVinci might have sketched as a flight study of the crane.

What are those empty pages of the books for?
Well I guess they are for drawings... To stimulate students when they get bored. :p
[my work]
I was going to study here. Nobody can argue with the view of the Madison skyline. But I took some photos and left given that the table/bench combo was full of graffiti, cigarette stubs and garbage.......a shame, this was such a nice study place....
This set of notebook drawings was created in 1999-2000 as an assignment to create a self portrait. I drew small studies of bits I wanted to include, but somewhere along the way I went in a completely different direction.
The fourth of four small panel studies that I did yesterday. Once I got rolling, I had to keep going. I'm going to continue pursuing this path, I believe there's still a lot to uncover.

The study room of the Jones Library has tables with reading lamps and enormous windows on two walls to provide natural lighting.
Field studies. Raining and raining and raining. No chance to get ouside, but will enjoy this process when I do. I like the idea of pen and wash. Picked this iris and leaves and brought it to the table.
