Study chandelier. Purchased intact, but quite rusted and tarnished, from an architectural salvage. This is the first one I restored.
Character studies for a comic book project I would like to undertake in the future. A crime/ fantasy piece with a focus on heritage, identity and the timeless nature vs nurture argument. A mixed race young man named Devlin Deche (the creole word for ‘outcast’) who has no connection with any of his family discovers that his Grandmother is actually an Ol’ Higue, a witch from Jamaican folklore. An Ol’ Higue is a creature that sheds it skin and travels as either an owl or fireball depending on the incarnation; it sucks the breath out of the babies and is often used to explain infant mortalities. The poem is written by Wordsworth Mcandrew. With this piece I tried to improve the style of pens on watercolour that I tried with my Donnie Trumpet piece.

These images and excerpts of texts are from a self-portrait project in which I portray my late mother, Roxanne, based off of anecdotes, memories I had of her, and most of all, her myriad of journal entries. Not every image has acompanying text, but I like to think you can piece together who she was by my images.
