Sun Studio is well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950 as the Memphis Recording Service, this National Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

East Village
Tonight we (www.virb.com/colorform) had a "private" showcase party at the 440 Studios on Lafayette Street. This is what Sarah Valeri had done by the end of our second set.
Outside raged one of the fiercest storms New York has seen in a while (the news has it ranked with the 1991 "Perfect Storm" and 1985's Hurricane Gloria). Nearly 200,000 homes lost power for days, rivers in New Jersey flooded, and countless trees fell. JFK reported 75mph wind gusts, and more than 4 inches of rain fell on Central Park.
The streets were littered with the sliding corpses of battered umbrellas abandoned by their wind-drenched owners. Our umbrellas fared no better on our 5 minute walk up here and we arrived at the show soaked.
After the party, the streets were unusually empty and we had free reign over the East Village- a rare and magical thing for a Saturday night.
