I'm so happy/lucky that I have a camera I can shoot with while I'm waiting for my D300 to get repaired. Also, I am really excited to start using the lighting studio in the art building for more portraits here in the near future. I don't really have a background with using studio lighting, however, I'm excited to play around with it and see what I can come up with.

muzz's home studio shoot

I was trying to work with Thea in studio, we had a hard time despite the mother's presence, but that's why kids are so cute. I had some light scenarios, but i was only able to shoot with one SB-28 flash at f/8 1/4 power, no zoom in silver reflexive umbrella, right of the camera. Triggered with Pixel Pawn.

another shot of my newly finished studio! the only thing that we still need to replace is the carpet........it's REALLY old!

So!

This is the surprise some of you were waiting for!

Seeing how my mentor (Erlend) has so many tutorials, i got jealous and decided to make one myself! LOL

But really... i hope this is gonna be useful to you guys.

I spent the whole evening making the whole thing, taking pictures of each step and it was so much fun!

You can pretty much expect lots of macro shots from me now! (and i hope to see some from you as well!) :-)

Anyway!

Lets get started!

Cheers,

Raffy

Oh, this one is dedicated to my curious-cat friend Chris Bebegata :-) Cheers to you! (For your patience & kindness)

So i saw this mini-studio somewhere and it was around 200 bucks. Since im saving my money for something else, i decided to make one of my own at home, using stuff we see everyday.

This is what youll need:

- Tape

- A scissor or anything that cuts

- A Tv Box or a box of any kind, just make sure it has a nice size

- Thin white sheets of paper

- Thick sheets of paper of different colors

- A brain (YOURS, not someone elses!)

The final studio. Velcro sheet on the back wall.

oh shit its like binary code fer spiders

emptiness and not my artworks)

Christmas fairy lights (white LEDs) for nice bokeh circles in the background -- that's the only light source. Lense: 50 mm, f/1.4 fully opened, on tripod, manual focus via liveview.

Behind the scenes with a Hasselblad H4D and 35-90 zoom lens.

You can see about £50,000 of equipment in this shot (one of the H4D was a limited edition) and another £19,000 if you count the H4D I was holding. Fun times.

Drawing from life is not easy. You can go wrong so easily as I have done here. It is all about angles and measuring. The task is to get three dimensional objects down on paper in two dimensions. A camera does that for you. That is why people who copy photos will never learn to draw.

Give me a box of coloured pencils, and for a whole afternoon you won't hear or see me.

Always been like that, lol, oh that and a book.

Here I had a lot of fun.

Hope you do too.

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments! M, (* _ *)
