A participant in the recent Red Flannel Run in downtown Des Moines sports a mostly bare head on a cold February morning.

I was in surgery Saturday on my arm. Ongoing from my accident 4 months ago.

 

I had to see if I can still use a camera, so used the light coming into the kitchen for a selfy

Must be viewed large or original. Chaenotheca furfuracea 'Sulphur Stubble Lichen'. This crustose lichen seemed to be a smudge of green algae growing on the bark at the base of a very large and old White Spruce, The very tiny, scattered smaller than pin sized fruiting bodies were not seen until viewed on my computer. Stupid camera. Stupid alarm. Stupid "project". Yet I'm still getting up and doing it, I suppose to prove to myself that if I say I will do something that I will something, regardless if there is no consequence or benefit. Call it honor, integrity, reliability, commitment -- right about then, at 2:47am, it felt stupid.

A rare photo of one of the many increasingly bizarre range of 'funky' improvisations that make one armed climbing so, er, funky. Well developed chin muscles and stubble helps with this one.
