Avon volunteers responded to a call for a structure fire at 32 Brian Lane and arrived to find an attached garage of a large single family dwelling showing heavy smoke and fire. With the fire starting to overtake the attic space and threatening the whole structure the Task Force 54 Mutual Aid Plan was put into effect bringing apparatus and man power fro the surrounding towns of Simsbury, Glastonbury, and Farmington in to work and cover. Though the residents out of the house, fire fighters had to rescue the family dog and a large macaw parrot early on. With the house clear of occupants interior crews aggressively attacked the fire and contained it to the garage and living space above it and the attic and second floor of the main house. The stubborn fire would take over an hour to bring under control with the structure sustaining heavy damage even though crews put a tremendous effort into the stop. The fire marshal was on the scene and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Woke up too early the other day, so I made the most of it and snapped a few photos during my commute to work. This was taken from Clay Street.

Some structures I made today in GIMP. I was originally just planning to do some simple crosshatching that I could quickly copy/paste into other drawings so that I could save time in the long run, but they turned out much nicer than I thought, and very organic looking, too!
On Scene with the Bridgeport Fire Department with a structure fire at 88 Horace St. Crews were called for a fire in the upper floors of a 2.5 story OMD. The first due engine and truck found the second floor and attic well involved with heavy fire coming out of the second floor porch. A special call was put in for addional engines and the safety officer due to the extent of the fire and the summer heat. The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes but the structure required extensive overhaul to be sure all of the fire was extinguished. Representatives of the City's Fire Investigation Unit responded to process the scene and interview any and all witnesses to the fire. Though several families and thier pets were displaced no injuries were reported as a result of this fire.
With the release of the Redstone patch I have been meaning to start up a new world. Here is some screenshots of some of the structures I am working on. These are incomplete and will probably receive more detail as I have time to update them.
Both stem from the 12th century. The structure is possibly the earliest example of a church and round tower being part of a single structure in Ireland.
Founded between 545 and 548 by St. Ciaran (one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland), this was once one of Ireland’s most important religious, artistic, and literary centers, a place of pilgrimage, craftsmanship, and culture. Many famous manuscripts were written here. The site includes the ruins of a cathedral, seven churches (10th -13th century), two round towers, three high crosses and the largest collection of Early Christian graveslabs in Western Europe.
This 105-acre island property is connected to New Rochelle by a drawbridge built in the 1920s. After Playland, Glen Island is the second most widely used park in the County Parks system. One of Westchester’s unique jewels, it was initially developed as a summer resort by John H. Starin. The original design exhibited the five cultures of the western world on individual islands linked together with piers and causeways. Today, the islands have been merged with substantial fill areas totaling 130 acres, providing a beautiful crescent shaped beach with access to the Long Island Sound.
