Wonderful structural, minimalist views of gas pipes outside of residences in Tel Aviv. These were all shapes and sizes and numbers of pipes. Generally a single larger pipe came up from the ground and spilt into multiple smaller pipes, connected with valves and meters, and then further pipes dissapeared into building walls.
This art deco structure is a former fire station in Alabama City, now part of Gadsden, Alabama. Thanks to a local antique shop owner for pointing me to it.
Kate and I took a trip down to the Chicago Flower and Garden Show on Sunday, 3/15/09
I enjoyed it much more than I expected since I had a VAL (voice activated lightstand) to hold my flash off camera, and a camera that takes much better shots at 800 and 1600 ISO.

The London Eye, or the Millennium Wheel, is a cantilevered observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London.
It is Europe's tallest cantilevered observation wheel and is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3 million visitors annually
Long day in the office so off late to Grand Haven hoping to make it before sundown but .....no luck. When I got there the place was desolate....not a soul in sight and to make matters worse the sun was completely gone leaving no color. Decided to hike out anyway to the tip of the icecap to at least shoot something as long as I made the 45 minute drive. Sorry, not much to show for the effort.....next time right?

On Scene with Watertown Volunteer with a smoky structure fire at 20 McLennan Dr in the Oakville section of town. First due crews found heavy smoke coming from Quality Automatics Inc ,a machine shop located at that address. Crews immediately stretched lines and hit the hydrant at the end of the dead end street for an additional water source. Extension ladders were used to access the roof for ventilation since powerlines prevented the aerial ladders from being used. The fire was brought under control after approximately 30 minutes but required extensive overhaul and ventilation. In addition hazmat precautions had to be taken due to the lubricants and by products of the manufacturing process at the business were mixed with the water and foam used to extinguish the blaze.
Weird cloud structure, that seem to stand up vertical in the airspace, is seen behind the Cumulus cloud in the foreground.
This photo is out of a series of 10 photos taken in Odense city. I heard the roar of a fighterplane in the sky and shot 10 photos that revealed an F16 "Viper" and up to 15 different unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Read more about this in my article NATO F16 in dogfight with several UFOs?
With the release of the Redstone patch I have been meaning to start up a new world. Here is some screenshots of some of the structures I am working on. These are incomplete and will probably receive more detail as I have time to update them.
On Scene with the Bridgeport Fire Department with a structure fire at 88 Horace St. Crews were called for a fire in the upper floors of a 2.5 story OMD. The first due engine and truck found the second floor and attic well involved with heavy fire coming out of the second floor porch. A special call was put in for addional engines and the safety officer due to the extent of the fire and the summer heat. The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes but the structure required extensive overhaul to be sure all of the fire was extinguished. Representatives of the City's Fire Investigation Unit responded to process the scene and interview any and all witnesses to the fire. Though several families and thier pets were displaced no injuries were reported as a result of this fire.
This 105-acre island property is connected to New Rochelle by a drawbridge built in the 1920s. After Playland, Glen Island is the second most widely used park in the County Parks system. One of Westchester’s unique jewels, it was initially developed as a summer resort by John H. Starin. The original design exhibited the five cultures of the western world on individual islands linked together with piers and causeways. Today, the islands have been merged with substantial fill areas totaling 130 acres, providing a beautiful crescent shaped beach with access to the Long Island Sound.
Shatterconed sandstone in Ontario, Canada.
Shattercones are striated conical structures in rocks formed by a powerful shock wave or pressure front moving through during an impact event. They have a three-dimensional cone-like structure, with the points of the cones directed toward the shock wave origination site. Undisturbed shatterconed rocks will have the apex of the cones pointing toward the direction of the incoming object (i.e., upward - toward space).
The host rocks here consist of ~2.3 to 2.4 billion year old fluvial sandstones of the Mississagi Formation. Notice that the shattercones are pointing downward, indicating that the impact event also overturned the beds.
This outcrop is in the Sudbury Impact Structure, the site for one of the largest impact events in Earth history. The impact structure, located in southeastern Ontario, is ovoid in shape, about 37 miles long by 19 miles wide. It was originally ~circular, but has since been laterally compressed by tectonic deformation. Before erosion and structural deformation, the structure may have been between 60 and 120 miles across. The impacting object is estimated to have been about 6 miles in size. The impact event itself occurred at 1.85 billion years ago. At that time, this part of Ontario was ocean. Computer modeling indicates that the splash wave generated by the Sudbury Impact may have reached about 30 miles high and generated a ~300 feet high megatsunami that radiated away from the target area for up to ~1800 miles. The impact punched a hole down into underlying mantle rocks.
Abundant evidence indicates that the Sudbury, Ontario area was indeed the site of an impact long ago. This includes impact breccias, shattercones, and extensive syn-formational sulfide mineralization. The sulfides are rich enough for mining to occur. In fact, the Sudbury Mining District targets the # 1 most productive nickel deposit on Earth.

Locality: Ramsey Lake Road outcrop - roadcut on the southern side of Ramsey Lake Road, ~0.9 miles east of Paris Street (a.k.a. Long Lake Road; a.k.a. Route 80), southern side of the city of Sudbury, Sudbury Impact Structure, Ontario, southeastern Canada (46° 28’ 06.97" North latitude, 80° 58’ 46.21" West longitude)
Slave Hospital/Overseer's House - This structure was used as a slave hospital and is thought to have been constructed for that purpose. Since its construction, it has been used for various functions. It was perhaps the home for Atala and Matthew Hertzog for 30 years, while they were rebuilding the Main House. Magnolia's Main House was burned by Union troops in 1864, and the new house was not completed until the 1890s. After that period, family tradition gives its use as an Overseer's house. Overseer's were usually white men who were paid annual salary and provided with a house and a domestic worker. In this area however, Overseers in the post-bellum period were often local Creoles.
