My dad at a medical appointment at the VA hospital.

The Strokes @ V-Fest, Toronto, Sept. 10, 2006.

When we travel it's hard for me to keep where we have been straight.

I remember that this guy was part of a larger tableaux in a church. He's carved wood. (I have no idea why people who have an awareness of God keep getting portrayed as mystics...)

I don't remember which church, though I am fairly sure it was in New York.

The carving is very small. And he looked pretty mysterious, making me think of a fantasy novel with wizards and rangers more than a church guy.

I could see him in a tavern sitting off in a quiet corner, sipping a beer while Frodo makes a fool of himself with a certain magical ring.

So that's the way I made this image: a few painted layers and some brush stylings. I added deep shadows around the fringes of the shot and where the hood covers his eyes. Then I bathed the center part of the image with golden light.

I added a couple of layers of blur and texture to give it a graphic novel feel. Finally I added deeper brush strokes so it would look like I spent hours with a paint brush whilst starving in a garret somewhere a stones throw from the river Seine.

This image presents itself best at a large size...and looks pretty cheesy when viewed here. So, if you can squeeze a couple of extra seconds into your visit, can I suggest you view it large?

This should be the last in the series of "trying to turn a statue into a painting kinda thing" for a while.

Tuh-fricking-dum.

I am simply obsessed with this song: 'I'll Try Anything Once'

It's on the new 'Somewhere' by Sofia Coppola soundtrack <3

I thought the sky reminded me of brush strokes, hence the title ;)

Another long exposure using the old welding glass and a ND8 together, giving an exposure of 88 seconds at f11

a portrait of my boyfriend experimenting with backlighting. here you can see his portrait of me in the same setting.

A simple looking picture but Flynn was being "brave" on two counts here. Firstly, simply letting me to get up close & lean over him to take the photo was a moment of bravery for Flynn. Just that action would've made him extremely uncomfortable & stressed at one point. Over the past year or so, Flynn's got SO much better about me being in his space & moving about near him... I still have to be careful & a bit "polite" but we're making good steps in the right direction.

For those who don't know Flynn's history - he's a rescue who, unbeknownst to me, or the previous owners, suffered from a painful abscessed kidney from approx 5 months old. It was finally discovered & the kidney removed when he was 2 1/2yrs old. As a result of the pain, he became stressed about being handled & unfortunately, his behaviour was wrongly labelled as "dominance" & some rather forceful training methods used for a while. As a result, Flynn developed a fairly extreme fear of being touched - to the point where he couldn't be stroked & even hands moving *near* him could provoke biting. He's now 4 1/2yrs old, fit, healthy & beginning to trust... although, because so much of his behaviour was established & learned at such a young age, progress is slow & I suspect his rehabilitation will be a long-term - probably lifelong - project. We love him, he's definitely worth it :)

The other reason Flynn was being brave in this photo? He has awfully sensitive little paws... & as a general rule, loathes treading on anything remotely spiky, or with a "funny" texture (I often think what a good job it is that Flynn wasn't sold as a farm dog!). I had to work quite hard to persuade him to come stand with me on the dry bracken - but he did it, for me... & his ball!!

Photoshop has had a very simple Stroke process for many years, but Adobe doesn't care much for "Simple". Many people are scratching their heads for how to even put a stroke on text.

As you know white text on a white background is invisible, so I put 4 strokes on this one and took the text out.

Here is the Tutorial by Steve Patterson to get you back to using Strokes again . Just click HERE.

Just for fun.

An early Halloween photo of a little vignette I made combining Lego seasonal Halloween set ( set 40122), the Businessman Zombie from Series 14 and Deathstroke :)

A group of monsters has been unleashed and they're looking for victims. However they choose the wrong one and Deathstroke is going to teach them a lesson in good manners :)

The subject is intuitionally "inclined" compared to the photo's borders in order to create a sort of "shaken camera" effect like sometimes we see in action movies during the fight scenes :)

I hope I'll be able to upload something more detailed for Halloween but in the meantime I thought to share this little photo :)

I hope you like it :)

Also a quick question: Do you know if we can add some blood effect with photoshop (or equivalent) and still consider the photo safety level "safe"? Thank You :)
