I was always fascinated by the brush strokes of Van Gogh. This was the first time in my life I got chance to closely observe this motion in his real painting.

The red part of this fading tulip looks like water color brush strokes to me. . .or perhaps it looks a bit like a cany cane?

Publicity image for the new Superior 500 which replaced the Superior 400 model. The Superior 500 had a more streamlined body developed under the principles of Paul Jaráy (Vienna, 1889-1974) and the technical supervision of Josef Ganz (Budapest, 1898-1967).

At the end of 1933, a small delivery van variant was also introduced until 1938. After that year, Standard founder Wilhelm Gutbrod (near Stuttgart, 1890-1948) sold the small van under his own name as Gutbrod Merkur HV 504. The body was very similar to that of the Simca 5 Fourgonnette.

Note the use of tubular chrome seats. It was a new invention in the early 1920s.

Some background info:

In the 1930s there was an increasing need for a real people's car in the German-speaking region. A car affordable for the masses, the so called 'Volkswagen'.

One of the leading engineers at that time was Josef Ganz. After he had worked for Adler, BMW, Daimler-Benz and Röhr, he developed his own minicar in 1931, the 'Maikäfer'.

In Standard Fahrzeugbau he found a manufacturer and in 1932 the Standard Superior 400 was launched (officially presented at the IAMA, the Berlin international motor show, Febr. 1933).

This cheap car was based on the 'Maikäfer' principles: tubular chassis, rear engine, independent wheel suspension and with a streamlined body.

Journalist Paul Schilperoord wrote a very interesting book about the history of the development of the VW Beetle in the 1930s. In this book he describes the life and works of Josef Ganz who's technical ideas were taken over by Ferdinand Porsche. The book reads like a very exciting story.

Photoshop has had a very simple Stroke process for many years, but Adobe doesn't care much for "Simple". Many people are scratching their heads for how to even put a stroke on text.

As you know white text on a white background is invisible, so I put 4 strokes on this one and took the text out.

Here is the Tutorial by Steve Patterson to get you back to using Strokes again . Just click HERE.

The four leaf clover is one of the most common good luck symbols of the Western world.

The four leaves represent hope, faith, love and luck.

A Christian legend tells the story that Eve brought a four leaf clover with her when she was expelled from Paradise.

Anyone lucky enough to be in possession of four leaf clovers has consequently a piece of the blessed Paradise.

A common belief during the Middle Ages was that a person who carried the rare four leaf clover would have the ability to see fairies.

The bearer could also recognize witches and potential evil spirits lurking about.

According to some traditions, a young woman seeking a husband should go in search of a four-leaf clover. If she is fortunate enough to find one, she is to eat it. The first unmarried man she encounters after eating the clover will be the one she will wed. Another tradition of gaining a husband or wife is to find a four-leaf clover and place it in one's shoe first thing in the morning. The first unmarried member of the opposite sex encountered that day will be one's future spouse
