Spent an afternoon doing an engagement session with two close friends of mine! Combination of natural light, AB800 and SB600 used in most shots, and some using just one light source (natural or flash). Had an absolute blast and cannot wait to shoot their wedding next summer!

The lighting I had set up were two strobe lights, one with a umbrella, and the other with a beauty dish. I had them both diagonally facing Emily so that there wouldn't be lots of shadows on her face, and if there were they wouldn't be harsh. Saying that, I would consider this soft lighting since the shadows that did appear on her face are light.
While I was taking this picture I thought about how to have a more natural picture, not a really studio-like photo, just a fun simple portrait. So we put the tree stump in there to lean on and got an easy pose and went with it. I think my photo stands out from the crowd because most people go for a serious and intense photo but I tried for a happier one to catch people's attention.

Strobist: LumoPro LP120 camera right in shoot thru umbrella, 1/4 power. Gridded LP120s left, slightly behind subject, 1/8 power. Gridded LP120 on white seamless, 1/4 power, flagged to prevent spill on model.
