Nothing was standing still including me. A strobe light can make a rock concert come to life by animating a split second.

Two strobes: one hair light, one bounced off the ceiling behind the camera. The hair light worked out serendipitously creating a glowing rim around most of the kids heads. A non-traditional pose, but the kids enjoyed it.
Little spinning column to which one can attach red and white plastic scraps. Strobe light appears to halt rotation or cause ghostly symmetrical figures. Taken at GAFFTA False Profit Alchemy party.
These ants are named after their erratic behaviour. They have very keen eyesight thanks to their large (by ant standards) compound eyes.
Flash moved around subject to mimic Strobist 101 lesson - these "pick shots" are black and white versions
Tried a white poster card to reflect light on a number of shots to create uniform light on both sides, otherwise it was just going up and down on power and moving the flash around until things looked interesting.
This had flash facing front with poster card on opposite side. Zero constant/ambient light in room - flash only lighting.
