So yeah I ventured into my aunt's woods with my viola for a photography excursion and used some of the shots for a school photo project. I should be posting more from the set soon, once I get done editing and all.

Old uke, new uke.

I love my plinky plonky fruity uke and we've had quite a few adventures together, but I needed something that could hold its tuning slightly better than my beloved plastic and plywood pal. One trip to Duke Of Uke later, and I was the proud owner of a tuneful Kala concert ukulele.

In Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. The berimbau is a single-string percussion instrument, a musical bow, from Brazil. The berimbau's origins are not entirely clear, but there is not much doubt about its African origin, as no Indigenous Brazilian or European people use musical bows, and very similar instruments are played in the southern parts of Africa. The berimbau was eventually incorporated into the practice of the Afro-Brazilian martial art capoeira, the berimbau (the soul of capoeira) leads the capoeiristas movement in the roda—the faster the berimbau is playing the faster the capoeirista moves in the game.

......................................

www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFvUZKlEQCY

FROM THE ARCHIVES …

The Erhu (or Chinese violin) is a kind of two-stringed bowed musical instrument. Its history can be dated back to Tang Dynasty over 1,000 years ago. Erhu can be used as a solo performance as well as in small musical groups and large orchestras. It is one of the most popular bowed string instruments used by many ethnic groups in China.
