Shanonnong stream is flowing into the Yangtze River. The upstream villages can be reached only through this waterway. Since ancient time the river men transported this way people and goods to and from the villages. Recently they transport tourist from the big cruise ships from the Yangtze river. Unfortunately the building the dam and the flooding of Yangtze river will raise the water level in this valley over 50 meters This way of life and a beautiful scenery will be gone for ever.

I was finally able to do a little hiking this past weekend. The temperature was perfect, it was cloudy, and the best part: NO RAIN! =)
This is a close-up photo of beach sand and ice formations in a shallow stream flowing across Clam Harbour Beach. The image has been cropped and then mirrored and copied twice to be symmetrical. The detail is best seen full screen.

This is a scene along the hike to Dark Hollow Falls off of the Skyline Drive.
I cannot wait to get back up there this weekend to capture some real Autumn magic!!
This was my first, and certainly not last, visit to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. One of the many great features of the park are the wide and great looking streams. And all the better being able to frame one of the streams with some blooming rhododendron. Unfortunately many of the rhododendrons didn't produce blooms this year, but there is always next year.

Miandam is a charming hill station located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, in the foothills of Hindu Kush mountains. It is located at a distance of 55 km away from Mingora the capital of Swat Valley, and 56 kilometers (35 mi) from Saidu Sharif. The main road continues north up the swat valley and reaches the village of Fatehpur, where the road branches off towards east and runs through gorgeous hillside villages and reaches the popular hill resort of Miandam. Miandam is a very picturesque tourist spot at an elevation of 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level.
