The two times I have railfanned Pan Am's paper branch lines I shot pairs of Guilford GP40's leading, never the 380 High hood or the GP40-2W's but It is hard to complain about pairs of Big G units. Here the Sappi job crosses the partially frozen Martin Stream.

I spent some time yesterday afternoon (September 15 2014) having some fun doing long exposures on a little stream. Taken in Vancouver, BC.

A stream winds through a steep valley near Whitehorse in southern Yukon. Snow lies thick on the land and helps define the trees.

This is a panoramic photo composed of 5 separate images, each of which was itself a three-exposure HDR I'd got up early hoping to catch a sunrise, but instead, I was met with yet another snowfall. Still, the fresh snow was beautiful and the hills looked to be almost shrouded in fog, though it was, in fact, light snow still falling.

Original photos were taken with the Canon EOS R and RF 24-105mm f/4.0 L. The camera and lens combination were mounted on a tripod and I used a remote release to eliminate shake. Unfortunately, I did not have a nodal rail, or a leveling tripod, but I was able to get the unit almost perfectly level and most objects were far enough away that parallax wasn’t a big issue. The images were merged and processed from raw in Adobe Lightroom.

First photo of the year! It was a really cold and foggy day, and it gave me an idea for a shot. I grabbed my camera and ventured into the brook that runs past my house and really just wanted to capture the surrounding and mood of the day.

After 24 hours of severe chinook winds these colorful clouds were still streaming over the mountains rather briskly at sunset.

A little stream feeds into Lake Cheaha on Cheaha Mountain in Alabama.

I found this winter stream by following the sound of water in the forest. With winter just beginning, the ice hasn't taken over completely. The combination of the warm afternoon light, fast water, and ice, made for an interesting view.

Photo taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro mounted on a tripod. The final image is a photo merge of fiver seperate exposures taken over a range of plus to minus three f-stops.

Joanne and I just returned from a wonderful trip to Algonquin Park. Although peak colour was early this year, there was still a good amount of colour to enjoy. As we went during the week we missed the crowds that dominated the park on weekends.

We enjoyed some great hiking in the park. This photo was taken while on a hike on the Track and Tower trail which is a 7.5km hike that also includes a scenic lookout and an abandoned railway. We also did another hike on the Whisky Rapids trail which was very rewarding as well.

Early Sunday morning in February.

Weren't we just talking spring greening the valley? Generally, greening will happen. Well here is another quick break excursion to Golden Ponds Trails where I looked into the deep and greening river banks as a break from barn wood shots. There are always relief shots to be found at Golden if you can dodge Don Corona. Regreening the land is always a great topic to discuss instead of discussing burnt orange and Mantan makeup... Especially as dessert nations no longer wait for American leadership; when was it last that our leadership lead forward instead of into endless wars.

I'll throw in this recent shot of the wilds of Longmont's Golden Ponds Park where the water streams through and Upkeep is up to nature. Denver cleaned up their geese problem and provided food for the poor. The Golden Ponds in Logmont are well fertilized by the goose poo and grows vast amounts of greenery. Yesterday the unmasked fertilized the park with their favorite pollutant, Trumpandemic-19 - not his lies. At least the geese fertilize the land and water until lands and ponds can be paved and sterilized toward the goal of burnt orange global warming.

The wealth of new life around this place shows that a new generation of water fowl (fouling) has fertilized Golden Ponds Park at Largemont, Colorado. The river level was coming down as the serious summer heating and resident high pressure settled in and moved very slowly because we ruined the jet stream. Oh well, we can all hide in air conditioning so long as we can throw the electric power away and burn more fossils.

I suppose that these ponds' water plants will thrive around the shores throughout summer. The weather quit bouncing back and forth in the valley with a coming final UP-turn in weather. Mid-westers and Eastern Trump Grumpers poopoo global warming but here we are.

The Kamani haole (Terminalia catappa) is very salt-tolerant and is often found growing along the shoreline. This large tree has branches that dips down into the ocean at high-tide or large surf.

A stiff breeze required that I leave a chunk of coral on my chair. As I tended my camera, gentle waves lapped at my feet. I enjoyed this cool respite during Holga Week.

Just as a stream gains power when confined, so too does a life achieve greatness when it is focused, dedicated, and disciplined. We should recognize the boundaries that shape our power.
