I acquired this N65 body for only $5 and thought it would be fun try out with the 35mm f/1.8 dx lens that I typically use with my APS-C digital slr. Good results. Some vignetting at f4 and smaller. I don't mind the look.

Streamers is built as a participative public sculpture made out of recycled loudspeakers, tube radios, hifi furniture and modern interactive media. SPEAKERS SCULPTURES are interactive sound sculptures by Berlin-based Franco-American artist Benoît Maubrey. They are conceived on site and reflect their local environment and are constructed from up to 3000 recycled loudspeakers (all connected). The sculptures can function both as a mobile “Speakers Corner“ — a “hotspot“ for local participation and self-expression but also as a forum for small events and concerts.

This freshly emerged Streamer moth has a violet tint. Its name comes from the black marking streaming from the leading edge of the wing. This example was found in Gretton, Gloucestershire.

Out on deck at 5:30 this morning, we were greeted by spectacular lenticular streamers coming off the mountains. We were also greeted by 70 mph katabatic winds coming down off the glacier in St Andrews Bay, where we had been scheduled to visit the legendary King Penguin colony – near hurricane force, whipping the water into williwaws. The winds have to be below 20 to winch down the zodiacs. So here we are en route to Plan B.

The surface of the sea squeezes out a tube of air after crests apparently merge between rocks before they meet with the final shore - a horizontal twister. The effect seems to be more than a merger of crests, with the possibility of a strong undercurrent from a past wave sucking and spinning approaching troughs which gives the effect of crests merging. Here the ephemeral tube can be seen as a silver line under the water surface. The tube of air moves with the surge forward releasing streamers of bubbles as it goes.
