Liz and I, at the suggestion of Angela and Nathan, stayed at a Naxi minority family household about an hour outside of Lijiang. It was wondefully calming and educating to see their household's resourcefulness and pleasant lifestyle. Probably the most enjoyable for me though, were the conversations with the son, Qiquan. We hope to travel again. Contact me if you are interested in staying there and I can put you in touch with them, I wholly recommend it.
I was streaming L'Immortelle (1963), directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet and I got this glitch. The photograph was taken with my phone.
While Acadia does not have the grand scenery of the West, it features an abundance of very accessible subjects. Jordan Stream is one of most easy to walk along, thanks to the adjacent carriage road built in the first half the 20th century by J D Rockefeller Jr.. Until his death in 1960, Acadia National Park received a substantial amount of (free) maintenance from the Rockefeller road crew. Now, 50 years later, you can see the un-checked decay of the forest around many of the beautiful areas of Acadia.

The steam was flowing quickly and the rain was coming down - made a nice pattern.
When we left the house this morning, the sun was shining - which was great because we had packed a picnic and planned to spend the day at our favourite hiking trails and beaches. Just when we arrived at our first stop, the rain started to come down - and then the thunder started to rumble. We sat in the car, waiting it out, eating our picnic lunch and reading the books we planned to read on the beach. Finally we decided to just put up with the rain and went out to explore. It was warm so we didn't really mind getting wet. It rained off and on all day and by the time we decided to head home, we looked like drowned rats....but, drowned rats with happy smiles! It was still a good day. The funny thing was, when we got back home, it hadn't even rained at all!
