I made a quick trip to the local forest this weekend, after what has been a small photographic hiatus of a few weeks.
I wanted to see how spring had progressed in the spot where I shot the last few images from Årvollåsen.
Spring is coming along nicely, not much yet to speak of when it comes to leaves and flowers, but the snow is gone and I'll make some more trips the coming weeks.
I cursed myself for forgetting my grad ND filters, I only brought a polarizer and the tripod. The tripod was as stable as ever, my eldest son and two of his mates were given jobs as assistants in keeping it still in the soft moss. They took their assignment very seriously indeed, holding onto the legs until their grip whitened :)
They took turns in triggering the shutter remote.
As for the forgotten ND filters I suddenly had an epiphany, I wore wore a black hoodie! So when starting the exposure I held my arm in front of the lens, about halfway covering the front element, then gradually moved it upwards throughout the exposure; I'd say the results were very satisfactory indeed. I won't throw away my grads, but a nice trick to keep in mind anyway.
Canon EOS 7D, Tokina 12-24 f/4@ 12mm, f/18, 2.5sec, ISO 100, polarizer, tripod.
The tranquil sound of water tumbling over boulders. A fresh mountain stream with an abundance of life springing from
it.
Another long exposure, and experimenting with different styles of processing also (please be patient! ;). It's a little dark in places, but I left it like that on purpose...for the atmosphere.
And this extract from 'The Stream's Story' by Jared Barhite just says it all:

'To wander all day, by a purling stream
That flows through some mossy dell,
And watch its silvery waters gleam,
And list to its music's swell
As it dashes down some wild cascade,
On its race to the wide, wide sea,
With sweeter strains than old Orpheus played,
Is supreme delight to me'

Morning stroll in the woodlands in Sweden. A bit of rain prior helped bring some extra life (water!) to this creek.
un sunrise proche d'un ruisseau en auvergne, le sol est complètement gelé et le soleil se reflète sur chaque brin d'herbe. Au moment où il sort de l'horizon, toute la scène prend des teintes orangées, un moment magique, seul dans ma campagne.
Long exposure autumn stream from the Orange Grove area of Patapsco Valley State Park near Baltimore, Maryland (USA). Fictional inspired by the shape of the water flow reminding me of a light ray, or perhaps the proverbial ray of hope in fluid form.
