Nothing says “India” to me like chai: that hot sweetened tea, made rich from the boiled buffalo milk (or full-cream cow milk) and spicy with the maker’s secret blend of ginger and cardamom, with cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds, peppercorn, nutmeg and/or cloves.

These brightly colored cups pour and strain water in the bath for endless spilling and scooping fun.
The cups also stack up to form a towering paddle wheel.
And when bath is over, they nest compactly to stow away for next time.

My brother's camera is broken - so I was lucky enough to head over to his apartment and do some food photography (and enjoy some really excellent food). If you've enjoyed looking at any of these photos please head over to his blog at Garrett's Table and check out the recipies (it's easier than you might think) - he'll have the full recipes and blog post by 10-25-08.
He made pasta from scratch as well as a tomato, parsley, garlic sauce which was perfectly balanced and really flavorful. He also made a very unusual dish out of cranberry juice, cocoa butter, ginger and orange juice. Check out the blog for details, but the cranberry juice is completely contained in a shell of cocoa butter spiced with ginger and is only liberated after you've put it in your mouth - giving you a time-released flavor. Really cool stuff.
As always, please check out his blog at Garrett's Table for all the recipies and details. He has a great series of cooking and food book reviews posted as well.

A family business in the floating market town of Amphawa, Thailand. They buy the herbs from China and manufacture the jelly in a traditional process at the edge of a canal.
