a large shallow bowl, a small strainer (like what you use to make tempura), yellow and orange fish (you can freeze them and use them instead of ice cubes), and yellow and orange bowls to sort into. this is the first time i've left out the water (in a recycled plastic juice bottle) for him to pour into the bowl himself when he was ready to do the activity, but i chickened out at the last minute and poured it for him. it just seemed a little heavy for him to control well. anyway, he enjoyed the activity. i was sitting there, wondering who in the world would put these things in their drink when T popped one in his mouth and started chewing, looking quite satisfied with himself. grrrrr... : )

I strained about 2 cups of Tine organic kefir milk through two layers of coffee filters in the refrigerator for about 12 hours. The whey separated and is a nearly clear substance full of microbe-y goodness.
The remaining solids are tangy and taste like yoghurt. After 12 hours, it's about the consistency of cream cheese.
I put the cheese-like substance back in the refrigerator to try to strain them some more and try for a more solid consistency.

or eye straining? haha. i've been wanting to learn how to emphasize the eyes through editting. hmm i've seen them around. but am trying to figure it out :)
