And the town was tossed in the air, or so it would seem from this shot I took through the windshield.

Closer look at the SS Patrol speeding around the corner on their R-75 and Wehrmacht Infantryman being shot.

On the 9th Of June, 1944, a small squad of the 506th PIR (101st Airborne Division) were ordered to storm and capture a small chapel on the eastern outskirt of the city of Carentan. This specific chapel had been transformed into a radio-transmitting station by the germans, allowing them to relay messages to berlin and back. It was vital that this stopped happening. Although it was not heavily armoured, and already damaged from bombing raids, it was still jam-packed with Wehrmacht soldiers, and SS Patrols passed every half an hour. 7 Allied Infantry men stormed the chapel from the front and back, leading to a swift success in the end. (Note: This backstory is completely made up by me to fit the MOC :P)

Onto the actual MOC itself: I was never really pleased with the damaged buildings I've made in the past, and had originally wanted to make a bell tower with a sniper at the top (COD2) inspired but realized I didn't have enough pieces to build it that high and left it like this. Of course, playability is a must in my book, and so the roof and top floor is removalbe to get to the bottom. Yes, stairs are also included :P I think the stand-ins I've made for the radio's are alrigth, but could be better. Anyway, I quite enjoyed building this and think I pulled off the hole in the roof well. C&C appreciated.

If you took the time to read this long description, Bravo. Thanks!

This was a big storm cloud in the west... about 30 minutes later, we were totally overcast with rain and hail from a cold front moving up from the south.

Taken on way home from work during severe thunderstorms

I was out walking the dog trying to beat an approaching storm when I spotted these clouds. I liked the way they presented themselves, and to do them justice, I desaturated the photo until is was almost monochrome. Hope you like!

Edit: These may be Mammatus clouds. They were awesome nevertheless!

Watching the looming storm from the train station

We had a pretty eventful weekend at the Webelos Woods camp near Buda, Texas. The weather hit us twice - first with the most humid, windless Saturday I can remember then with torrential rain that caused us to have to abandon the campsite in the middle of the night when a flash flood threatened to inundate the area. Everyone got out safely but quite a few tents and a couple of vehicles ended up flooded. The forecast at the time had a 40% chance of rain for the area with rainfall estimates of 1 to 2 inches locally - a bit of an underestimate as it turned out. We got somewhere over 7 inches yesterday!

This shot shows my son standing in the pavilion where everyone gathered after the evacuation. Needless to say, I didn't take any pictures before this point - we were rather busy and I had more important matters on my mind!

I would greatly appreciate your vote in the 2013 Photoblog Awards. Thanks!

storm cloud over cornwall

We've had big storms in L.A. all week but the kitties have wanted out anyway. Lucy was out there getting windblown today and like her normal self. Here she was looking up to see rain just starting to fall again.

I'm in a sky mood, expecting storms tonight in the Midwest. Means I'll have a wet cat sleeping next to us. Woo hoo.

At least the beginnings of one. Lots of swirling and different colors as it drifted east. There was a storm passing by just to the north as well.

Some severe storms blew through North Texas this evening, and I just happened to grab some great lightning pics after they were safely over us.
