The bit to the right of the cloud is called the forward flank downdraft, this is where we see most lightning activity.
Storm Chasing in South Central Kansas. This storm would later go on to drop a tornado near Cedar Vale Kansas.
A severe thunderstorm that passed through Torrington, Alberta offered a spectacular shelf cloud that stretched on forever and gave me an opportunity to travel I road I hadn't been on in several years

Wow... Moving into the later part of May 2011 and our storm season that is normally hear by late April with some severe storms just hasn't made the grade this year.
Just finishing up washing the deck down and it was still sunny at that time. We did have a chance of storms with a small front pushing though. Though the chance of this going severe was not going to happen.
Though it was not severe I did grab the gear and headed out to see what I could capture for that afternoon with these mild Nebraska Stormscapes.
