your mini storage solution for all things small.
The Delta is yet another edgy storage solution created for independent living spaces, especially lofty areas or those larger living rooms that can well accommodate room separations. Smaller spaces will benefit from its special minimalistic character and modern feel. Usually we take notice of the larger elements in a room, but in the case of the Delta, it is definitely its shape and angular form (hence its name) that will bring to life your storage possibilities. A layout not to be forgotten, the Delta invites you to defy your notions of diversity and originality, providing a new depth to bookshelves as part of the finer decoration of a home.
I have less than one week to get all my things in order before I move. And of course, my dolls are number 1 priority!!
I did a final count, I have 26 dolls at home at the present time. 1 is in Melbourne with Meimei, and 4 more will stay with Sydney friends. I plan to give 1 to Malcolm, and take 2 abroad with me. So that leaves me 18 dolls to pack away!! >_<
At present I have all my dolls standing on Takara stands in a glass IKEA cabinet. I will leave them with my parents.
What are some good long-term storage solutions for my beloved Blolls?
I plan to keep all my dolly things in my glass cabinet but I don't think I should keep the dolls standing. I am going to:
* take off all clothes, accessories, long dangly charms etc.
* plan to wrap the faces of custom dolls with some type of tissue paper or fabric?
* should i keep them lying down or sitting up?
* should i put one final layer of protective wrap around the glass cabinet to keep dust and sunlight out?
I know this all sounds really OCD and I am sure non-dolly friends won't understand my anxiety, but I am so worried about leaving them behind for a year. I don't want to come home to melt marks or yellowed faces or broken things!
If you have any experience or ideas please let me know :)))))
I got into miniature painting just before 3rd edition of Warhammer 40K, meaning, around 93 perhaps? I have an old receipt which states I bought Space Marine (EPIC) in early 94, and that's what I collected the most of. Stopped in around 97 when it got too expensive, but I'm sure some will laugh at the idea of '97 GW being expensive compared to today...
Here's some of my 28mm figs though, the half painted ones which I've kept stowed away in misc boxes and really needed another storage solution for. Couldn't fit 'em all though. I keep my painted ones in a fancy glass cabinet.
Most of them are Eldar, and like a fool I decided to paint the entire army in bone and black, effectively ruining the visual identity of the figures and making everything (Aspect Warriors, Guardians) look samey. Fortunately no thick coats, so maybe I can just shoot a new basecoat on top with my airbrush.
Also seen, SoB, Space Marines (misc chapters), Necromunda Escher, someOrks I might use for Gorkamorka due to low count, random Dark Elves, Mutant Chronicles, Micro Macines used for Combat Cars.
Might be able to fill another three slabs with stuff I'm probably never gonna paint.

We used to sell larger versions of these beautiful paper storage boxes from PLUS, the series is called Living Post which is very good for organizing your home and work desktop. This year they released a smaller version which is also cheaper at about HK$98 per piece. Instantly they became our top sellers in Xmas.
Most people have their stationery stuffed in a drawer without classification and eventually a lot of them are not used on regular basis, they are just lying there to be thrown away one day. The problem is, like most of your other stuffs, that without organization, things are not being used to their potential and this is such a waste.
So instead of putting stuffs in drawers, Living Post offers to have your gears accessible on your desktop. Yes you have to create a space for such storage boxes but the payback is guaranteed. You make things beautiful so that they become useful.
I now use a square orange box to store clips, craft related stuffs such as MT masking tapes, leather tools. The large drawer is just the right size for postcard or 4x6 photos, a calculator, Field Notes and Moleskine pocket size notebook fit perfectly well inside. My other narrow black box is used for photo related stuffs such as shutter release, 35mm film canisters, tapes, etc. It also serve as a place to put miscellaneous or temporary stuffs.
The Living Post drawers are tiny but enough. If you are not a stationery freak, chances are you will find it useful in your own ways. Say for storing daily cosmetic stuffs, for a dedicated place to store all your keys and cables, etc.
I wish they have a version with wood pattern which fits perfectly with my desktop theme at home.

Built for Hero Factory Month over on EB. I hadn't checked EB in a while, and decided to see what's up. I've always had fun building Hero Factory figures at work, and always pick some up when on sale.
This gave me the excuse to actual use the parts I've bought, and it was indeed fun. It's not meant to be good by any means.
Also, sorting has slowed to a halt. I've discovered my current storage solutions are not capable of handling all this LEGO.

Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.
— H. G. Wells (1898), The War of the Worlds
To some our natural planet appears as an economic opportunity put there for their personal and selfish exploitation. Ruination, destruction and the future do not figure in that reasoning.
On an otherwise almost empty plain these towers cast long shadows like the Martian's fighting-machines. Don't be petty! I know they were tripods and these are tetrapods. You're ruining a good story. Just accept that these are the MkII version, OK?
Just as the Martians made a tactical blunder, these towers are likewise a failed enterprise. No, they are not a failed experiment. Experiments do not fail. They are conducted, we collect information and we test our hypotheses.
Responding to the as yet unresolved problem of anthropogenic climate change and the perils of a runaway greenhouse effect an attempt was made here to generate electricity using the concentrated heat of the Sun to boil water and use this in a conventional Rankine cyle to spin an alternator attached to a turbine. Someone has since observed that this is a terribly expensive way to heat water.
These eight towers are topped with graphite heat accumulators designed to absorb heat from the Sun and release it over time to deliver dispatchable power to the electricity grid. The towers were once surrounded by 6000m² of biaxial solar tracking mirrors. Each of these heliostats had an area of 10m² so that's 600 devices with their stepping motors and controllers; each one a complex machine. What could possibly go wrong? And the energy output for all this? Three MWh! Just a f@rt in the windstorm of energy demand.
What we had here was a desperate grab to apply 17th century technology to a space age problem. Are we still really dreaming of boiling water to power our world, whether by combustion, nuclear fusion and fission or solar concentration? Really?
Fortunately wind, wave and photovoltaic systems are getting momentum and we can cast off this primitive technology. With electricity storage solutions just around the corner and some willingness to accept natural limits we might just make it before it's all too late.
That is, of course, if the unsympathetic, envious eyes do not destroy us with their blind faith and greed first.

Most of the time, larger elements are the ones to be noticed first in a room. However, every now and then, elements stand out not for their size, but for their visual innovation. While designing the IVY, the focus was to achieve the rare balance between true functionality and visual impact. The layout of the IVY is an invitation to experiment with diversity and originality providing a path to new possibilities. The essence of this piece is its crazy atmosphere, where accents are in a constant dance of organized/disorganized visuals creating an effect unique to the eye. Its forms inspire a kaleidoscope of space and time. Because of its modular casing, you can extend the IVY to almost any width you need creating an effect not to be found in any other storage solution. When used as s room divider, its geometric lines created a different mood according to the light incidence.

Sandians have discovered a new family of liquid salt electrolytes that could lead to batteries with three times greater energy density than other available storage technologies. The MetILs are, from left to right: copper-based compound, cobalt-based compound, manganese-based compound, iron-based compound, nickel-based compound, and vanadium-based compound.

I had a bunch of old Silicon Chip magazines sitting in a cardboard box and since I'm on a quest to rid my house of cardboard boxes (evil, horrible things) I decided I needed a magazine storage solution.
Sure, I could drive down to Officeworks (A megastore of stationary here in Australia) and simply pick one up off the shelf for a few dollars (Well, $15 for one this size). It would have been a no-brainer. But that just didn't seem sporting!
So last night I sat down in front of my computer and fired up CorelDRAW and designed this and today, armed with a sheet of 6mm MDF, I set my laser cutter to work. It's got enough room to fit a bunch of magazines and should I need more I can just cut them out! I figure it cost me about $6 for the MDF - less than half the cost of buying one :)

This is Thumper aka the Sun Microsystems x4500. That is 24 Terabytes of direct attached storage you're looking at there. With blazingly fast I/O capable of 20 GB/second, this is the fastest, most dense, and coolest (in terms of temperature) storage system available anywhere and -- at $2 per gigabyte of storage -- is significantly less expensive than comparable storage solutions. With clustering, massively parallel database operations can access data on this puppy at 1 Terabyte/second. See product details here.
This system was introduced today along with the Galaxy 4 (aka x4600) and Andromeda (aka SunBlade 8000).
Disclaimer: I work for Sun. In particular, I'm in the group that created the Galaxy 4/x4600, and also work closely with the Thumper and Andromeda teams.
