Alphabet Challenge Week 11: KITCHEN

365: 78

And ready at hand for a quick mug of something warm. Small kitchens require creative storage solutions.

Haworth's Frankfurt am Main showroom is located in the New West Harbour quarter, Baseler Strasse 10. Haworth designs and manufactures adaptable work spaces, including office furniture, ergonomic seating, storage solutions and wall partitioning panels.

Seeing that I forgot to post this here, I am now updating Rescue 1 to its current iteration. Rescue 1 has received their latest rig, a 2021 Seagrave Marauder II/SVI heavy rescue! This rig replaces the 2017 Spartan Gladiator. Like the previous generation of rescues, this apparatus has a partial walk-in compartment that stores the wet/dry suits, ALS equipment, and forcible entry tools. Also, a custom slide out increases interior space for command purposes. Unlike the prior rigs, the side door to the walk-in compartment was eliminated as the crew primarily enters through the cab. This allowed design engineers to add storage solutions for high frequency tools. Another new change for the rig was to move the air compressor to the top of the rig to free up space in the compartments.

Rescue 1 is staffed by 6 men and responds to calls in the northern half of the city, while Rescue 2 handles the southern half. Rescue 1 also cross-staffs Rescue Platform 1. The compartments hold a wide variety of tools for various rescue applications including confined space rescue, high angle rescue, trench rescue, vehicle extrication, underwater/swift water rescue, and hazmat.

The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario is well known for it's natural wonders, the water that flows down the Niagara River and plunges into the Niagara Gorge creates three separate waterfalls known as Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. Surrounding this area is what is known as Niagara Parks which includes many kitschy tourist attractions such as haunted houses, wax museums and restaurants with large and elaborate signage, just to name a few. But just beyond the boarders of Niagara Parks lies the real City of Niagara Falls, most tourists probably wouldn't even notice as they drove through the area on their way to the main attractions. It is this area where until just a few short months ago, one may have come across an unassuming building that once housed City Hall.

Built in 1866 and then extensively renovated in 1954, one would have no idea without doing research that the building was 154 years old. The buildings original stone walls were covered with brick creating a modern design at the time, which in its own right is still very appealing to the eyes. The building has been used as a butcher shop, library, court house and most recently as City Hall up until 1969 when it officially closed. Since then it was mainly just used as storage for old city files as well as other odds and ends. The building had been neglected for years and because of this it's evident from the photos that it had deteriorated quite significantly.

This is the question I've been burning to ask all my Flickr friends - how do you store your dolls' clothes and accessories? I am trying to come up with ways to store all my dolly stuff where it is easily accessible, and items can be seen so I know what is available without forgetting what's there as the new items keep coming in.

In the picture to the left you can see my new doll display cabinet in the background. In the foreground is the open door of the hall closet with a clear plastic shoe organizer hanging on the inside of the door. It is a recent idea I had to store knitted items and other clothing items that don't wrinkle. In the pic to the right are the two shelves of the hallway closet designated for doll boxes and accessories. I have one wardrobe case we found at an antique store, and my Moxie Teenz items are stored in it. The green toile jewelry box is where I keep dolls' jewelry, some shoes, belts, and other small items. The plastic box on the closet floor is for dresses and clothes.

I am wondering about what the best way is to store Ellowyne's dresses? Do you keep your dolls' clothes in plastic bags, hanging in a special closet or in a box? I'd love to hear from other doll enthusiasts about their ways of finding storage solutions. Thank you!

Some pretty paper and a little time goes a long way.

More in my blog.

We used to sell larger versions of these beautiful paper storage boxes from PLUS, the series is called Living Post which is very good for organizing your home and work desktop. This year they released a smaller version which is also cheaper at about HK$98 per piece. Instantly they became our top sellers in Xmas.

Most people have their stationery stuffed in a drawer without classification and eventually a lot of them are not used on regular basis, they are just lying there to be thrown away one day. The problem is, like most of your other stuffs, that without organization, things are not being used to their potential and this is such a waste.

So instead of putting stuffs in drawers, Living Post offers to have your gears accessible on your desktop. Yes you have to create a space for such storage boxes but the payback is guaranteed. You make things beautiful so that they become useful.

I now use a square orange box to store clips, craft related stuffs such as MT masking tapes, leather tools. The large drawer is just the right size for postcard or 4x6 photos, a calculator, Field Notes and Moleskine pocket size notebook fit perfectly well inside. My other narrow black box is used for photo related stuffs such as shutter release, 35mm film canisters, tapes, etc. It also serve as a place to put miscellaneous or temporary stuffs.

The Living Post drawers are tiny but enough. If you are not a stationery freak, chances are you will find it useful in your own ways. Say for storing daily cosmetic stuffs, for a dedicated place to store all your keys and cables, etc.

I wish they have a version with wood pattern which fits perfectly with my desktop theme at home.

Good morning :)

Have a lovely Friday!...I'd love to be sharing new photos first thing in the morning here (instead this is a photo of the shelf in the reading corner which has been transformed in a temporary storage solution for prints and orders), but it'll have to take place later, as there is much to take care of both on line and off line.

I'll take a small stroll in the most current uploads of yours and visit everyone getting chatty throughout the day during breaks.

Wish you all to be spending the nicest of days doing things you love or at least doing things necessary with as much love and care as possible.

Be well :)

Ivy xx

So I have 3 days to go before I have to update my pro Flickr account. Not sure what to do to be honest. I have not been using it much of late and in fact have found that views of my photos has slowed quite considerably. Perhaps I will saddle up for one more year just because I like Flickr as a storage solution more than anything. I have photos on here that I have long since deleted from my phone, camera and computer. That alone is reason enough I think.

I'm moving on to a different project and a different scale, so it is time for all of these items to be stored away. It always takes a long time to properly put away my diorama stuff and I have become increasingly creative with storage solutions as this stuff has taken over my house. The fireplace will be a bit of a pain to store since it is large, yet delicate. It will need its own box and it is larger than a paper copy box which is my favorite tool for storing 1/6 and 1/12 scale furniture.

The old Oil store at St Bees is a charming little building, the container cum Portakabin marked as St Bees REB didn't quite have the same charm. Two Class 153's pass between the two buildings heading north with 2C35 06.51 Barrow to Carlisle.

Like many AFOLs I've struggled with developing a useful Storage solution to the inventory. What I've finally got is an approach that separates the elements by 'type' (plates, tiles, bricks, vegetation, technic pieces, brackets, panels, etc.) and then by color if there's too many of them to fit in one container. As the inventory increases or decreases then I'll adjust the approach. By keeping them in roughly the same position relative to my worktop then I know where they are without too much looking. The drawers are also removable from their containers so if I know I need a bunch of elements (e.g. shorter 2x plates browns, blacks and grays stored on the top right) then I just remove that drawer and use it.

My current storage solution consists of 15 Akro-mils cabinets. The Sterilite drawers on the floor are used for bulk storage, complete sets, manuals, and more.

Jan 3

The rain never stopped today and so it was lots of fun taking the dogs out for potty breaks, especially when Bentley just wants to find the squirrels lol

I also spent most of the day getting the kitchen cleaned up and put stuff away that doesn't belong there. I'm going to really try and follow the monthly schedules from "Home Storage Solutions" I've done bits and pieces of it but I want to see if I can really jump in and do the daily tasks - so today - clear off countertops (now it looks neked lol)

a custom keeper from a repeat of my day-tripper design.

inspired by day-cations with family to the zoo, art festivals and museums!

Three years ago, today, POTUS and Commerce Secretary Pritzker welcomed me as a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship.

Here is the White House press release and Obama's executive order.

The shout out from Obama gives me goosebumps — here's the Video (also on stage were Steve Case, Sundar Pichai, and Mark Zuckerberg, from the White House Transcript).

Over the following year, they worked with me to develop a "Signature Initiative designed to inspire entrepreneurs and expand networks and global exposure of existing entrepreneurs, or increase deal-flow between investors and entrepreneurs."

And for me, they published:

"Steve Jurvetson is an inventor, startup investor and is considered one of the country’s leading experts in technology forecasting. With his ability to translate how technology will shape and create the businesses of the future, Steve’s Signature Initiative will be to evangelize how new technologies and data such as machine learning, global satellite imagery, and next generation internet capabilities will help entrepreneurs to build their companies, reach new markets and rapidly scale.

He will deliver this initiative through hosting technology discussions and mentoring tech entrepreneurs in the U.S. and abroad. The goal of these engagements is to build stronger ecosystems for entrepreneurs to thrive, which require the involvement of investors, researchers, policy-makers, and economic development practitioners. Steve will also focus on East Africa’s emerging markets and how their increasing connectivity and capital investments in startups can help to develop stronger entrepreneurial communities and economies."

Good to remind myself of this pledge... and I need to pull together my trip reports to Rwanda and Kenya meeting with the Presidents and evangelizing distributed off-grid solar/lighting/storage solutions for remote farmers, and forming KawiSafi.

I'm currently upgrading my photographic darkroom, installing a new wet working area and storage solutions. Pictures of that will follow. There are now hundreds of negatives gathered and many many to be printed soon. May the winter begin!

I've never posted an after shot of my office. It's a tiny room, and I have a lot of books and craft supplies, so storage solutions are the primary concern.

I apologize for the general crappiness of this photo - I took it with my new pocket digital because it shoots wide angle, but I'm still not happy with this camera.

Above are photos of my new SKB iSeries hard-sided case with inserts by ThinkTank. This is the SKB iSeries 2015-7DL.

When trying to decide what case would work best, I had some difficulty making a selection. I hope these images might help others who are searching for a hard case.

It may be obvious to most, but it took me some time to decipher the naming convention. In the iSeries, the numbers are the case’s dimensions. For my case, the 2015-7DL indicates that the case's internal dimensions are 20” by 15” and 7” deep. The “L” suffix means that the lid organizer is included.

Few retail locations (near me) carry more than one or two options, so I would have to try

To figure out what would fit, I found the interior dimensions and taped off the sizes of various cases on a floor. I laid my gear out in a variety of grid configurations to see what would work best.

Some additional considerations:

• I envision using this case as both a storage solution for most of my Fuji gear and to take to large shoots. However, any time I would use this much gear, I would travel almost exclusively by car so I did not want a wheeled case

• When deciding what would “make the cut” to be included in my storage case, I decided that I would keep chargers and cords for both camera batteries and speed lights, but not cleaning supplies (rocket blower, sensor wipes, etc.).

At present, I have the following packed in the case:

Framed The Starry Night by Van Gogh for $2? WIN! This is the only Van Gogh I'd ever consider actually putting up. You can tell that this picture got wet in the past, but it really only affects the matte, not the print itself.

You can also see my creative storage solution for mid-sized dolls: Hang them on the speaker wire / Christmas lights. This allows them to exist in spaces that would not otherwise be utilized, thus reducing their footprint to 0. The Deady doll on the right is by goth musician / animator Voltaire. They're popular enough to have been bootlegged in Asia.
