This is the road from the river campground at Fort Clinch State Park. It is called a "canopy road" as the limbs from the old live oaks completely cover the roadway.
This was taken at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. A fifteen mile dirt road that goes to a naturally occurring spring parallels the border wall with Mexico virtually the whole way. You are actually mere yards away from this wall at some points. I found this stop sign to be rather ironic..do you have a choice?
A black and white night photo of the ‘Super Valu’ grocery store in Prairie City, Iowa. With a population of about 1,700 people, this local grocery store may beat driving 20 miles to the nearest Walmart or Hy-Vee if you just need a pound of hamburger or a head of lettuce for dinner. Also known as Prairie City Foods, walking in the door is like stepping back in time. The people that work there are friendly and helpful, but of course, the prices are a bit higher than the big chain stores in the city.

About the series: Life in a small Midwestern town often means a slower pace of life, close-knit communities, and a strong connection to the land and agriculture. Residents typically have a strong sense of pride in their hometown and a friendly, neighborly attitude. Small towns usually have limited employment and entertainment options, but the tradeoff is typically a lower cost of living and a quieter, more peaceful environment. Presented in black and white at night, I hope to capture the essence of a few small Iowa towns in this series. Series Album: flic.kr/s/aHBqjBWTai

An architectural abstract from Glasgow, Scotland.
Such terribly saddening and horrific news from Glasgow this afternoon. Six injured and in hospital from a stabbing attack with a police officer in a critical condition and the attacker shot dead by police at the scene.
I love Glasgow and having moved here from Englandshire over a decade ago I have been often overwhelmed by the warmth and welcoming friendliness from the people that I meet in the city. My heart goes out to all of those affected by the tragedy unfolding in the city today.
We need to stop terrorism, we need to stop racism, we need to stop hatred and we need to stop killing each other. We are one humanity, just one species upon one planet earth. Please stay safe everyone, stay alert and please share the love of humanity and kindness to those around you.

What can a pencil do for all of us? Amazing things. It can write transcendent poetry, uplifting music, or life-changing equations; it can sketch the future, give life to untold beauty, and communicate the full-force of our love and aspirations. -

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” - John Lennon

Twas the morn before Christmas,
and all through the town,
Dave was stirring with Nikon,
with fog all around.
The photo gifts were few,
as little was new,
but he kept hoping for a decent photo.
He was due.

Crossing Eight Avenue at 34th Street on the way to Penn Station. It was past 10 PM, but the construction site on the corner was lit with those brighter-than-the-sun lights, and the 10-block walk from the Theater District through Times Square was an obstacle course through a raucous human circus. "Keep walking and don't make eye contact" was always the advice of my father, who spent 25 years as a police officer in this area. It is still very good advice. New York City-- June 17, 2022
